On Minimizing the Maximum Broadcast Decoding Delay for Instantly Decodable Network Coding [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In this paper, we consider the problem of minimizing the maximum broadcast decoding delay experienced by all the receivers of generalized instantly decodable network coding (IDNC). Unlike the sum decoding delay, the maximum decoding delay as a definition of delay for IDNC allows a more equitable distribution of the delays between the different ...

Une machine à tenseurs TT sur les variétés d’Einstein

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2023
In all dimensions $n \ge 3$, we introduce a differential operator of order 4 which, on Einstein manifolds, transforms the (fields of) trace free symmetric two tensors into TT-tensors.

Being True

open access: yesReligions, 2021
Turning to Karl Jaspers’s 1937 lectures, later published as Philosophy of Existence, this paper examines what might be meant by the colloquial expression “spiritual but not religious”.

‘With Foolish Optimism We Thought It Was Just a Miss’: Marriage, Sexuality, and Unwanted Pregnancies in Twentieth-Century Ireland

open access: yesReview of Irish Studies in Europe, 2022
Much of the scholarly focus of Irish sexuality in the twentieth century has been on ‘sexual non-conformity’: sex outside of marriage, rape and coercion, and abuse.

Spectre du Laplacien agissant sur les $r$-tenseurs symétriques sur l’espace hyperbolique

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2021
On the hyperbolic space, we give the spectrum of the Laplacian acting on trace free symmetric tensors fields of any rank.

Fashion and Faith: Girls and First Holy Communion in Twentieth-Century Ireland (c. 1920–1970)

open access: yesReligions, 2021
With a focus on clothing, bodies, and emotions, this article examines girls’ First Holy Communions in twentieth-century Ireland (c. 1920–1970), demonstrating that Irish girls, even at an early age, embraced opportunities to become both the center of ...

Being Oneself: Self-Consciousness in Husserl and Henry

open access: yesPhilosophy Kitchen, 2020
Taking up phenomenology’s problem of intentionality in the wake of Husserl, Jean-Paul Sartre in the introduction to Being and Nothingness says, «All consciousness, as Husserl has shown, is consciousness of something […] All consciousness is positional in

L-Amino Acids Elicit Diverse Response Patterns in Taste Sensory Cells: A Role for Multiple Receptors. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Umami, the fifth basic taste, is elicited by the L-amino acid, glutamate. A unique characteristic of umami taste is the response potentiation by 5' ribonucleotide monophosphates, which are also capable of eliciting an umami taste.

Integrable delay-difference and delay-differential analogues of the KdV, Boussinesq, and KP equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Delay-difference and delay-differential analogues of the KdV and Boussinesq (BSQ) equations are presented. Each of them has the N-soliton solution and reduces to an already known soliton equation as the delay parameter approaches 0. In addition, a delay-differential analogue of the KP equation is proposed.

Stability for nonautonomous linear differential systems with infinite delay [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, 2020, 2020
We study the stability of general $n$-dimensional nonautonomous linear differential equations with infinite delays. Delay independent criteria, as well as criteria depending on the size of some finite delays are established. In the first situation, the effect of the delays is dominated by non-delayed diagonal negative feedback terms, and sufficient ...
