Stochastic description of delayed systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study general stochastic birth and death processes including delay. We develop several approaches for the analytical treatment of these non-Markovian systems, valid, not only for constant delays, but also for stochastic delays with arbitrary probability distributions.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

The VitiTerroir model to simulate the spatial dynamics of vineyards on the long term (1836-2014)

open access: yesCybergeo, 2019
The VitiTerroir project ambitions to develop a model simulating spatial dynamics of vineyards in Centre-Val de Loire region, France. We study these dynamics in the long (several centuries), medium and short term, using historical sources (administrative ...

The rate of patient deferral and barriers to going forward with elective orthopaedic surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic

open access: yesBone & Joint Open, 2020
Aims: The primary aim was to assess the rate of patient deferral of elective orthopaedic surgery and whether this changed with time during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Multi-Delay Differential Equations: A Taylor Expansion Approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
It is already well-understood that many delay differential equations with only a single constant delay exhibit a change in stability according to the value of the delay in relation to a critical delay value. Finding a formula for the critical delay is important to understanding the dynamics of delayed systems and is often simple to obtain when the ...

Delayed perturbation of Mittag-Leffler functions and their applications to fractional linear delay differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we propose a delayed perturbation of Mittag-Leffler type matrix function, which is an extension of the classical Mittag-Leffler type matrix function and delayed Mittag-Leffler type matrix function. With the help of the delayed perturbation of Mittag-Leffler type matrix function, we give an explicit formula of solutions to linear ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Asymptotic behaviors of jellyfish model with stage structure

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2021
In this paper, a stage-structured jellyfish model with two time delays is formulated and analyzed, the first delay represents the time from the asexually reproduced young polyp to the mature polyp and the second denotes the time from the developed polyp ...
