This paper proposes an analytical delay propagation model for single railway lines based on the max‐plus algebra theory. The scheduling measures taken by dispatchers, including re‐timing and re‐ordering, will be incorporated into our delay propagation ...

Data-Driven Modeling of Systemic Air Traffic Delay Propagation: An Epidemic Model Approach
To better understand the mechanism of air traffic delay propagation at the system level, an efficient modeling approach based on the epidemic model for delay propagation in airport networks is developed.

Assessing Interdependencies and Congestion Delays in the Aviation Network
Concerning air traffic delays, air transport networks appear to have variable performance and stochastic nature. A delay incident in one airport may affect the operational efficiency of others and generate various side effects to the whole aviation ...

A Spatial–Temporal Network Perspective for the Propagation Dynamics of Air Traffic Delays
Intractable delays occur in air traffic due to the imbalance between ever-increasing air traffic demand and limited airspace capacity. As air traffic is associated with complex air transport systems, delays can be magnified and propagated throughout ...

Neglecting complex network structures underestimates delays in a large-capital project
Completing large-scale projects on time is a daunting challenge, partly due to the intricate network of dependencies between a project’s activities. To support this challenge, existing theory focuses on predicting whether a delay in completing a single ...

Propagation Delay in the Atmosphere [PDF]
Calculations of the propagation delay due to the atmosphere in satellite‐to‐earth communication are reported for the frequency range 1 to 15 GHz. A spherically symmetric, smoothly varying model is assumed for the atmosphere, and the techniques of geometrical optics are employed.

Uncertainty Management at the Airport Transit View
Air traffic networks, where airports are the nodes that interconnect the entire system, have a time-varying and stochastic nature. An incident in the airport environment may easily propagate through the network and generate system-level effects.

Stochastic Delay Cost Functions to Estimate Delay Propagation Under Uncertainty
We provide a mathematical formulation of flight-specific delay cost functions that enables a detailed tactical consideration of how a given flight delay will interact with all downstream constraints in the respective aircraft rotation.
