Proxy caching that estimates page load delays

Computer Networks and ISDN Systems, 1997
Abstract Do users wait less if proxy caches incorporate estimates of the current network conditions into document replacement algorithms? To answer this, we explore two new caching algorithms: (1) keep in the cache documents that take the longest to retrieve; and (2) use a hybrid of several factors, trying to keep in the cache documents from servers ...

Scheduling expression trees for delayed-load architectures

Journal of Systems Architecture, 2002
In this paper we consider the problem of scheduling expression trees on delayed-load architectures. The problem tackled here takes root from the one considered in [Proceedings of the ACM SIGPLAN '91 Conf. on Programming Language Design and Implementation, 1991. p. 256] in which the leaves of the expression trees all refer to memory locations.

Queuing Delays in Randomized Load Balanced Networks

IEEE INFOCOM 2007 - 26th IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications, 2007
Valiant's concept of randomized load balancing (RLB), also promoted under the name 'two-phase routing', has previously been shown to provide a cost-effective way of implementing overlay networks that are robust to dynamically changing demand patterns.

Load balancing routing with bandwidth-delay guarantees

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2004
The current generation of network carriers competes intensely to satisfy the diverse wide-area connectivity requirements of customers. At the same time, the carriers inherently wish to maximize the usage efficiency of their network infrastructure. Much of the research in network resource management has been devoted to providing bandwidth guarantees and

Load frequency control incorporating time delay

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1987
This letter discusses a load frequency control scheme incorporating the computation delay time in the control law. When there is a computation delay in determining feedback gains, the incorporation of the time delay is necessary for the improvement of dynamic responses. The influences of the delay time on the responses are investigated using a two-area

Effective Capacitance for Gate Delay with RC Loads

2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005
In deep submicron designs, the resistance of interconnect plays a dominant role on the timing behavior of logic gates. The concept of effective capacitance C/sub eff/ is usually used to calculate the gate delay for interconnect loads. In this paper, a new method to derive the expression C/sub eff/ is presented, and the accuracy of the expression is ...

Delay-Constrained Load Balancing in the SDN

2019
In the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks, a single satellite may cover areas with various population quantity, economic conditions and time zones. In this case, networks have time-varying traffic load and may face with unbalanced load distribution.

Delay-dependent stability for load frequency control with constant and time-varying delays

2009 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2009
Load frequency control (LFC) requires transmission of remote measurements to the control center and of control signals from the control center to the plant. Constant delays exist in the dedicated communication channel and an open communication network introduces time-varying delays.

Comparison of Marginal Bone Level Changes of Immediately Loaded Implants, Delayed Loaded Nonsubmerged Implants, and Delayed Loaded Submerged Implants: A Randomized Clinical Trial

The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, 2017
The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to radiographically compare peri-implant marginal bone level changes between immediately loaded implants without the removal of an abutment placed at the time of surgery (IL), delayed loaded nonsubmerged implants (NS), and delayed loaded submerged implants (SI).Patients' edentulous sites were randomly ...

Load Balancing in the Internet with Strict Delay Constraints

IEEE INFOCOM 2007 - 26th IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications, 2007
We study the problem of routing traffic in the Internet with strict delay constraints. This problem arises in the context of routing delay-sensitive traffic such as Voice-over-IP. We consider a set of demands that can be routed along a candidate set of paths.
