Low-Loading-Delay Parallel Adaptive Loading for Reducing Transmit Power of OFDM System
IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2007The conventional successive adaptive loading algorithm, represented by Hughes-Hartogs algorithm, can be used to reduce the transmit power of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. However, two major disadvantages exist for this kind of algorithm: One is the long loading time delay caused by the bit-to-bit loading, i.e., only one bit ...

Delayed failure in rock loaded in uniaxial compression
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1986The long-term response to sustained compressive loading of two crystalline hard rocks of the Canadian Shield has been investigated. Static fatigue tests conducted on granite and anorthosite have shown that in a humid environment the long-term strengths of these crystalline igneous rocks could be less than 60 percent of their dry instantaneous strengths.

On Achieving Zero Delay with Power-of-d-Choices Load Balancing
IEEE INFOCOM 2018 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications, 2018Power-of-d-choices is a popular load balancing algorithm for many-server systems such as large-scale data centers. For each incoming job, the algorithm probes $d$ servers, chosen uniformly at random from a total of $N$ servers, and routes the job to the least loaded one.

Stability criterion for load frequency control with delays
2017 4th International Conference on Information, Cybernetics and Computational Social Systems (ICCSS), 2017Time delays are widespread in power systems since communication networks can be used to send and receive information. In this paper, the influence of time-varying and constant delay on the stability of single area load frequency system is investigated. A comparative method to handle delay margins is presented. The maximum delay time when a power system

Delayed failure in a shock-loaded silicon carbide
Journal of Applied Physics, 2005The shock response of a silicon carbide has been investigated using the methods of plate impact, and monitored using manganin stress gauges mounted so as to be responsive to lateral stress. Close to the impact face, a two-step stress response is observed, indicating the presence of delayed failure at the impact face.

Investigating delays in frequency-dependent load control
2016 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2016Increased penetration of renewables will require significant regulating reserves, so there is a need to re-think the traditional operating paradigm: supply follows demand. Recent work has expanded the role of flexible and controllable energy resources, such as energy storage and dispatchable demand, to regulate power imbalances and stabilize grid ...

Load Balancing in Dynamic Networks by Bounded Delays Asynchronous Diffusion
2011Load balancing is a well known problem, which has been extensively addressed in parallel algorithmic. However, there subsist some contexts in which the existing algorithms cannot be used. One of these contexts is the case of dynamic networks where the links between the different elements are intermittent. We propose in this paper an efficient algorithm,

IMMEDIATE VERSUS DELAYED LOADING IMPLANTS: RATIONALE AND CONTROVERSIES.
Journal of biological regulators and homeostatic agents, 2015Loading implants immediately after their position in alveolar bone crest is a procedure that has become popular in the last decade. The aim of this study is to evaluate the survival rate of 811 immediate loaded implants (ILIs). In the period between January 2008 and December 2013, 877 patients (498 females and 379 males) were operated at the BDD ...

The effects of memory load and delay on facial recognition
Applied Cognitive Psychology, 1990AbstractThis experiment examined the effects of memory load over three periods of delay. Following presentation of 20, 35, or 50 targets, subjects were required to select these from an equal number of distractors 10 min, 1 week, or 2 weeks later.
