Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2014
Summary: In this article, we are concerned with the interactions of delta shock waves with contact discontinuities for the relativistic Euler equations for Chaplygin gas by using split delta functions method. The solutions are obtained constructively and globally when the initial data consists of three piecewise constant states.

Surface Reflective Visualizations of Shock-Wave/Vortex Interactions Above a Delta Wing
AIAA Journal, 1997The surface reflective visualization (SRV) system is used to investigate the vortical flowfield above a 65-deg sweep, sharp leading-edge, noncambered delta wing in a high subsonic flow. Configurations of M oo -α are considered that both do and do not exhibit vortex breakdown above the wing, with and without the presence of a terminating shock-wave ...

Hypersonic Flow with Attached Shock Waves over Delta Wings
Aeronautical Quarterly, 1970SummaryHypersonic conical flows over delta wings are treated in the thin-shock-layer approximation due to Messiter. The equations are hyperbolic throughout, even in regions where the full equations are elliptic, and have not hitherto been solved for flows with attached shock waves.

Hypersonic flow with attached shock waves over plane delta wings
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1977A new form is given for the general solution to the thin-shock-layer equations for the flow over a nearly plane delta wing. Using this, the solution described conjecturally by Hayes & Probstein for symmetrical flow with attached shock waves over a plane delta wing is realized numerically.

The Pressure on Flat and Anhedral Delta Wings with Attached Shock Waves
Aeronautical Quarterly, 1972SummaryAn expression is derived which relates the pressure on a wing in a supersonic free stream to the pressure on a thin wing with the same surface shape. The expression is used to find the pressure distribution for caret wings and flat delta wings with attached flow at their leading edges.

Delta Wings of Shapes Amenable to Exact Shock-wave Theory
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1963SummaryA class of delta wings is considered, whose under-surface has an inverted-V, or inverted-W, cross section of such a form that, at the “design” Mach number and incidence, the shock waves formed are plane. The geometry of the shock-wave system and surface is described briefly, and comments made about the utility of the concept in relation to ...
