Deltamethrin: Uses and Environmental Safety
1992Deltamethrin is a photostable pyrethroid providing valuable insecticidal activity against a large number of pests. Since it has potential uses for crop, cattle, and human health protection, extensive research work was done to evaluate its safety. Protection against insect pests in agriculture requires safety not only for applicators, but also for honey

Biological monitoring of deltamethrin exposure in greenhouses
International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1996This study examined the possibility of using biological monitoring to assess deltamethrin exposure among greenhouse workers. The synthetic pyrethroid deltamethrin was sprayed in five greenhouses by cold for generators, and the exposure was biologically monitored by analysing the concentration of its metabolite, 3-phenoxybenzoic acid, by a gas chromato ...

Effects of deltamethrin on the immune system in mice
Environmental Research, 1992The influence of deltamethrin on the immune system in mice was investigated. Female BALB/c mice received deltamethrin in two daily oral doses; 6 mg/kg for 84 days and 15 mg/kg for 14 days. The humoral immune response in animals immunized with sheep red blood cells determined by agglutinin and hemagglutinin titer as well as by the number of plaque ...

Fatal intoxication with hydrocarbons in deltamethrin preparation
Human & Experimental Toxicology, 2009Pyrethroid insecticides are very widely used in agriculture and household due to high effectiveness and low toxicity to humans. We have described a case of a fatal oral intoxication with decis, the insecticide containing pyrethroid (deltamethrin) in a hydrocarbon base.

Persistence of deltamethrin and cypermethrin on wheat and sweetclover
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 1985Residues of cypermethrin and deltamethrin in wheat herbage and grain and deltamethrin in sweetclover herbage were determined. Cypermethrin was applied at 28 g/ha to wheat and the residues on the herbage declined exponentially from 3.74 ppm immediately after spraying to 0.20 ppm 27 days after spraying. No cypermethrin residues were detected in the grain.

Excretion of deltamethrin in lactating dairy cows
Food Additives and Contaminants, 1990A study was conducted to determine the metabolic fate of deltamethrin in lactating cows after a 'pour-on' application. Two cows were treated with 0.1 g deltamethrin and two with 1 g of the compound. Urine, faeces, milk and blood were collected over an 8-day period and analyzed for deltamethrin. This preliminary experiment has shown that it is necessary

Determination of residues of deltamethrin in milk and butter
Food Additives and Contaminants, 1990A method is described for the determination of deltamethrin, particularly in mild and dairy products. Residues and fat were co-extracted with acetone and light petroleum, partitioned with acetonitrile-methylene chloride and centrifuged (-10 degrees C). The extract was purified by gel permeation chromatography.

The modulatory effect of deltamethrin on antioxidants in mice
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2006Deltamethrin is a alpha-cyano pyrethroid insecticide used extensively in pest control. Although initially thought to be least toxic, a number of recent reports showed its toxicity in mammalian and non-mammalian laboratory and wildlife animal species. In fish, it is a potent oxidative stress-inducing agent.

Carcinogenicity studies with Deltamethrin in mice and rats
Cancer Letters, 1990The pesticide Deltamethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid, was studied for carcinogenicity in long-term experiments in mice and rats. Mice were given Deltamethrin by gavage in arachis oil at 0, 1, 4 or 8 mg/kg body wt for 2 years. A group of untreated controls was also available. Rats received 0, 3 or 6 mg/kg body wt.

Locust control with deltamethrin
1997The brown locust, Locusiana pardalina (Walker), is a chronic pest problem and a potential threat to the food security of some nine countries in southern Africa (Lea 1964). Intervention relies mainly on nymphal band control in the Karoo outbreak region of this locust species and involves the detection and direct spraying of bands with ground-based ultra
