Impact of Demand-Response on the Efficiency and Prices in Real-Time Electricity Markets [PDF]
International audienceWe study the effect of Demand-Response (DR) in dynamic real-time electricity markets. We use a two-stage market model that takes into account the dynamical aspects of gen-eration, demand, and DR. We study the real-time market prices

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Self-optimization method of resident demand response strategy based on priority queue
Resident load is one of the important components of seasonal peak load and has huge demand response (DR) potential. But its randomness and decentralization limit the ability to flexibly participate in DR interactions.

Assessing the Privacy Cost in Centralized Event-Based Demand Response for Microgrids
Demand response (DR) programs have emerged as a potential key enabling ingredient in the context of smart grid (SG). Nevertheless, the rising concerns over privacy issues raised by customers subscribed to these programs constitute a major threat towards ...

The electric commons: A qualitative study of community accountability [PDF]
This study explores how energy might be conceptualised as a commons, a resource owned and managed by a community with a system of rules for production and consumption.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Simplified Algorithm for Dynamic Demand Response in Smart Homes Under Smart Grid Environment
Under Smart Grid environment, the consumers may respond to incentive--based smart energy tariffs for a particular consumption pattern. Demand Response (DR) is a portfolio of signaling schemes from the utility to the consumers for load shifting/shedding ...

A Two Stage Hierarchical Control Approach for the Optimal Energy Management in Commercial Building Microgrids Based on Local Wind Power and PEVs [PDF]
The inclusion of plug-in electrical vehicles (PEVs) in microgrids not only could bring benefits by reducing the on-peak demand, but could also improve the economic efficiency and increase the environmental sustainability.
