Demineralization by electrodialysis

Desalination, 1976
Abstract Electrodialysis process using ion-exchange resins in the compartments has been an approach in demineralization of low saline solutions but the difficulty of maintaining and operating such systems is a major bottleneck. The current work has made use of the concept of conducting spacers of anion and cation-exchange type made from polyblends or

Skeletal demineralization in Turner's syndrome

Calcified Tissue International, 1982
The bone mineral status of 17 girls with Turner's syndrome was evaluated by single photon absorptiometry. Bone mineral content (BMC) was 25.4% below that predicted by normalization for age, sex, height, weight, and bone width. Only 25% of this demineralization could be attributed to delayed skeletal maturation.

Influence of Xylitol on Demineralization of Enamel

Caries Research, 2009
In this paper the influence of xylitol on the progress of the demineralization front in enamel is described and discussed. Xylitol reduces enamel demineralization; the influence can be observed mainly at relatively high xylitol contents in solution. Autoradiography with 14C-labelled xylitol shows that xylitol penetrates fast in demineralized enamel ...

Effects of Collagenase on Root Demineralization

Journal of Dental Research, 1997
The role of proteolytic enzymes in the root caries process remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate collagenase activity during tooth root demineralization and remineralization in an in vitro demineralization/remineralization pH-cycling model.

Enamel Demineralization by Snack Foods

Journal of Dental Research, 1975
The amount of enamel destroyed by salivary fermentation of snack foods and confections was not dependent on their sugar content; starch, flavoring agents, and other components also played a part. Most enamel destruction was produced by fruit-flavored candies in which the inherent acid or high sugar concentration or both inhibited bacterial fermentation.

Demineralization of Bone by Phosphoprotein Phosphatase

Journal of Dental Research, 1970
Because of recent observations of the demineralization of enamel by phosphoprotein phosphatase, an experiment was designed to test this enzyme on bone. Decided destruction was evident in bone fragments that were incubated with phosphoprotein phosphatase buffered to pH 5.8 with 0.1 M acetate for periods of up to 15 hours.

Demineralization and Remineralization of Dental Enamel _____

Journal of Dental Research, 1979
Experimentation in vitro using organic acid buffers as demineralizing media shows that caries-like lesions can be obtained which are very similar in morphology and developmental stages to early lesions formed naturally under oral conditions. The use of these chemical systems and of mechanistic models advanced to explain the unique histological features

Kinetics of Enamel Demineralization in vitro

Journal of Dental Research, 1999
Previously, we reported that the rate (R) of hydroxyapatite dissolution in acetic, lactic, and phosphoric acid solutions is a function of the degree of saturation with respect to the dissolving mineral, DS (defined as the ratio of the mean ionic activity product for hydroxyapatite [Ca 5 OH(PO
