Negative Frequency‐Dependent Selection Promotes Strain Structure in a Plant Pathogen
Strains of the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae, defined by the combination of virulence factors known as effectors, exhibit in isolates from the Midwestern US a modular population structure congruent with core genome phylogeny. A stochastic and individual‐based computational model supports a role of negative frequency‐dependent selection in ...

Organ Crosstalk During Injury: Mechanisms of Lung–Kidney Interaction in Critical Illness
Crosstalk between the lungs and kidneys may propagate multiorgan injury in critically ill patients. This review examines evidence of crosstalk between the lungs and kidneys after injury, focusing on translational and mechanistic studies. Pathophysiology and animal models of acute kidney injury (AKI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are ...

Age estimation using carpals: study of a Slovenian sample to test Cameriere\u2019s method [PDF]
Carpals are often used as age indicators. In a recent study, Cameriere et al. studied the use of the ratio between the total area of carpal bones and epiphyses of the ulna and radius (Bo) and carpals (Ca) as age indicators. The present study, of a sample

The Potential Distribution of Phytophthora nicotianae in China on the Basis of MaxEnt Model Analysis
This study uses the MaxEnt model to predict the potential distribution of Phytophthora nicotianae, the pathogen responsible for tobacco black shank disease, across China under future climate scenarios. Our model identifies key environmental factors, including temperature, precipitation, and topography, that shape the pathogen's ecological niche.
