The business of democracy is democracy [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Constitutional Law, 2005
The Bush v. Gore Supreme Court decision in 2000 reminded America of the sometimes paradoxical relationship between the democratic process and legal institutions. Judge Posner’s book makes a valuable contribution to an expanded understanding of the tense yet mutually reinforcing interaction of law and democracy.

Emigration and Democracy [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
Migration is an important yet neglected determinant of institutions. The authors find that emigration and human capital both increase democracy and economic freedom.

Income and Democracy [PDF]

Democracy and Globalization [PDF]

The history of democracy shows us that such challenges enable democracy’s growth and evolution. As these modern conflicts and crises see populists seek to capitalise on the discontent of the people, it is evident ...

Scalar democracy [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2019
We conjecture that there exists a scalar bound state for every pair of fundamental fermions at a UV (`composite') scale, $ \gg v_{\text{weak}}$. This implies a large number of universally coupled, sub-critical Higgs doublets. All but the Standard Model Higgs are `dormant,' with large positive squared masses and each receives a small vacuum expectation
