2012Over the last century, life expectancy in the USA has increased dramatically. Only 100 years ago, it was common for people to die prior to their 50th birthday. The average age of the US population increased by as much as 14 years between 1900 and 1940. Of children born today, 95 % will exceed 50 years of age with many living well into their 80s.
