EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FRICTION BASED DEMOUNTABLE SHEAR CONNECTOR

ce/papers, 2023
AbstractIn order to provide sustainable structural solution for the steel‐concrete downstand composite beams in buildings by providing modularity and reusability, new demountable shear connector device based on frictional behaviour is devised. The mechanical behaviour of the newly developed connector is investigated both experimentally and numerically ...

SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF NOVEL DEMOUNTABLE BOLTED SHEAR CONNECTOR FOR PREFABRICATED COMPOSITE BEAM

2022
Bolted shear connectors offer alternatives to achieve steel-concrete composite action instead of conventional welded headed studs especially for prefabricated constructions and demountable composite structures. This paper firstly proposed a new type of demountable steel-concrete bolted shear connectors based on the double-nut friction-grip high ...

Horizontal pushout tests and parametric analyses of a locking-bolt demountable shear connector

Structures, 2022
Abstract A ‘locking-bolt’ demountable shear connector (LBDSC) is proposed to facilitate the deconstruction and reuse of steel-concrete composite structures, in line with achieving a more sustainable construction design paradigm. The LBDSC is comprised of a grout-filled steel tube and a geometrically compatible partially threaded bolt.

Effective resistance of demountable shear connectors. (LAC21.A3)

2021
Steel-concrete composite construction is structurally efficient but is impossible to dismount where the floor slab is permanently connected to the steel beams through traditional welded studs. This contradicts the reuse and reduce aspects of the circular economy concept which has recently been introduced to the construction industry.

Effect of Concrete Strength and Stud Collar Size to Shear Capacity of Demountable Shear Connectors

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2015
AbstractIn this paper, a group of demountable shear connectors have been developed and tested to assess their potential and suitability in terms of replacing welded shear studs. The experiments showed that these demountable shear connectors can be easily demounted after testing and have similar capacity and behavior to those of welded shear connectors.

Experimental study on demountable steel-concrete connectors subjected to combined shear and tension

Engineering Structures, 2019
Abstract Composite beams are being used increasingly in construction due to their benefits over beams consisting of the steel component alone. In some applications such as in composite coupling beams and infill walls, steel-concrete connectors must resist uplift forces in addition to shear forces.

Development and evaluation of demountable shear connectors for steel–concrete composite structures

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings
Demountable steel–concrete composite structures, utilised in sustainable building construction, incorporate demountable structural elements and shear connectors designed for reuse, aligning with the principles of the circular economy. This research and development project focuses on designing a demountable steel–concrete composite slab system for ...
