Influence of Technological and Environmental Factors on the Major Ion Composition in Cooling Water Discharges of a Nuclear Power Plant

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Statistical modelling and grey water footprint analysis revealed how technological and environmental factors shape the major ion composition of cooling water discharges from a nuclear power plant. Findings highlight that while ion concentrations increase post‐discharge, they remain within regulatory limits, ensuring minimal ecological impact.

Development of an Innovative and Functional Yerba Mate—Lychee Beverage: Sensory and Physicochemical Characteristics

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
A mixed beverage of yerba mate and lychee was developed and optimized. The 70:30 lychee‐to‐mate formulation provided the best balance of antioxidant activity and consumer acceptance, highlighting its potential as a functional beverage. ABSTRACT The development of functional beverages that combine bioactive compounds with sensory appeal is of growing ...

Future Range Shifts and Diversity Patterns of Antarctic Lecideoid Lichens Under Climate Change Scenarios

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, EarlyView.
Modeling of current and future spatial distribution of Antarctic lecideoid lichens shows that warming will strongly increase the potential habitat. Under three climate‐change scenarios, most fungal and algal partners are projected to expand inland. Overall, climate change drives widespread range shifts and promotes colonization of interior Antarctica ...

Convergent evolution of metabolic functions: Evidence from the gut microbiomes of humans and dogs

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Dogs have undergone convergent evolution in their genome with humans in long‐term co‐living. Studies have shown that the gut microbiomes of dogs exhibit greater similarity to those of humans compared to mice and pigs. In our study, we first compared the gut microbiomes of macaques, three dog groups, and two wolf groups to those in humans.

PD‐1/PD‐L1 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (2014–2024): A Combined Macro and Micro Analysis of Immunotherapy Implications

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a significant global health issue, with the PD‐1/PD‐L1 axis serving a pivotal target for immunotherapy in this malignancy. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of PD‐1/PD‐L1 research in HCC is lacking.

Exploring Compositional Data with the CoDa-Dendrogram

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2011
Within the special geometry of the simplex, the sample space of compositional data, compositional orthonormal coordinates allow the application of any multivariate statistical approach. The search for meaningful coordinates has suggested balances (between two groups of parts)—based on a sequential binary partition of a D-part composition—and a ...
