Veterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.We developed sensitive real‐time PCR assays for West Nile virus and Usutu virus to screen bird and human samples in Finland. Although no positive samples were detected, active migratory flyways and recent cases in neighbouring countries highlight the risk of future introduction and the need for continued surveillance.

Effect of blood meals and mating on biodemographic characteristics of Aedes albopictus
Physiological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 3, Page 446-459, September 2026.Lifespan did not differ between virgin and mated males and females. The number of blood meals (one and two) significantly reduced adult lifespan compared with those with no blood meal. The effect of the second blood meal doubled females' egg production and their reproductive output.
