The mechanisms for pinch formation in Dense Plasma Focus (DPF) devices, with the generation of high-energy ions beams and subsequent neutron production over a relatively short distance, are not fully understood. Here we report on high-fidelity 2D and 3D numerical magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations using the LA-COMPASS code to study the pinch ...

Atmospheric Influence on the Structural and Mechanical Properties of TiN Coating Deposited on NiTi Shape Memory Alloy via Mather-Type Dense Plasma Focus [PDF]
Introduction and Objectives: Nickel-titanium alloys have poor hardness and tribological properties. There is a possibility of loosening caused by wear while using these alloys for medical applications such as artificial bone joints.

On the failure of neutron yield scaling in the dense plasma focus
The observed scaling of neutron yield in the dense plasma focus (DPF) as the fourth power of the current in the plasma was the principal driver of the growth of DPF research in its early days. Subsequent discovery of failure of this scaling law was also the principal reason for its abandonment by major laboratories.

On the representation of dense plasma focus as a circuit element [PDF]
The dense plasma focus is a plasma discharge powered by a capacitor bank. Standard diagnostics include the measurement of the time derivative of the current through and the voltage across its connections with the capacitor bank. Interpretation of this diagnostic data often involves some assumptions regarding the representation of the dense plasma focus

Oxidative Stress, Atherogenic Dyslipidemia, and Cardiovascular Risk
Oxidative stress is the consequence of an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that exceeds the antioxidant defense mechanisms. Increased levels of ROS contribute to the development of cardiovascular disorders through oxidative damage to ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
