Coupled-mode analysis of fiber-optic add–drop filters for dense wavelength-division multiplexing [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 1997
We present a coupled-mode theory of fiber-optic add drop filters, which involve directional coupling between two fibers combined with fiber Bragg gratings defined inside the coupling region.

Photonic instantaneous frequency measurement using a dense wavelength-division multiplexer

Applied Optics, 2021
A photonic instantaneous frequency measurement receiver based on frequency to optical power mapping is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. One channel of a dense wavelength-division multiplexer (DWDM) is used as an optical filter to establish a power ratio function related to the frequency of the microwave signal.

All-fiber dense wavelength division multiplexers

SPIE Proceedings, 1994
Fused and tapered single-mode fiber couplers are used to make polarization insensitive Wavelength Division Multiplexers with a wavelength spacing of around 1 nm. Different structures are presented. As opposed to that of single highly elongated fused couplers, their responses are polarization independent.

Wavelength-stabilized Laser Source For Dense Wavelength-division Multiplexing

CLEO '97., Summaries of Papers Presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2005
Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM.) systems with channel spacings of 100 GHz require laser sources with wavelength stability better than 10 Ghz over a 20-year useful equipment life.

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer based on Microring Resonators

2018 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD), 2018
This paper demonstrates a dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM) based on microring resonators using ring radius variation method. In this design, the spacing between each channel was kept constant at 0.8nm throughout the S, C and L bands. The reference ring size of the ring resonator was 1um.

A novel architecture for dense wavelength‐division multiplexing/subcarrier multiplexing networks

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2001
AbstractWe propose and demonstrate a new survivable dense wavelength‐division multiplexing/subcarrier multiplexing (DWDM/SCM) network based on the star–bus–ring architecture (SBRA). This architecture ensures an OBI‐free optical network, and can serve tremendous subscribers. In addition, remote nodes and bidirectional wavelength add/drop multiplexers (B–

Multi-Wavelength Laser Source for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Networks

OFC/NFOEC 2007 - 2007 Conference on Optical Fiber Communication and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2007
We propose and demonstrate an ITU-T grid compatible DWDM laser source with 50 GHz channel spacing. It consists of a passively mode-locked laser, supercontinuum-generating photonic crystal fiber and fiber Fabry-Perot filter for spectral selection.

Promising compact wavelength-tunable optical add–drop multiplexer in dense wavelength-division multiplexing systems

Optics Letters, 2004
We design and model a highly compact and tunable optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM) device that consists of long-period gratings and piezoelectric ceramic fiber stretchers. The proposed OADM shows that 50 dense wavelength-division multiplexing channel signals can be selected in the wavelength range from 1526.25 to 1563.75 nm with 0.75-nm channel ...

Work-Optimal Routing in Wavelength-Division Multiplexed Dense Optical Tori

2008 11th IEEE International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering, 2008
We present a 2-dimensional n times n dense optical torus network (DOT ) having p = n2 nodes and l = 2n2 optical links. Each node consists of a processor and of a router. The links are capable of using 2n-1 wavelength channels. Furthermore, we present an all-optical, collision free routing algorithm for the DOT that is based on scheduled transmissions ...
