Dense wavelength division multiplexing re-circulating loop transmission testbed

Proceedings of the Sixth Chinese Optoelectronics Symposium (IEEE Cat. No.03EX701), 2004
The development of a recirculating fibre loop testbed to support the R&D activities of the Photonics Research Centre at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is reported. The test-bed consists of 200 km of Coming SMF-28 fibre, 5 EDFAs, 8 DFB lasers, 100 GHz-spaced 8-channel DWDM multiplexers and dispersion-compensation gratings.

Dense wavelength division multiplexing radio-on-fiber systems

MWP 2003 Proceedings. International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics, 2003., 2005
Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) millimeter-wave radio-on-fiber (ROF) systems are presented, in which we will focus on its multiplexing and demultiplexing techniques and photonic frequency conversions. The 25 GHz-spacing, 60 GHz-band DWDM ROF is experimentally demonstrated.

Architectural tradeoffs for reconfigurable dense wavelength-division multiplexing systems

IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2006
Advances in optical technology now allow practical reconfigurable wavelength networks to be constructed. These networks use wavelength-switching components to dynamically route wavelengths, and provide a level of flexibility and scalability previously not possible.

Integration of both dense wavelength-division multiplexing and coarse wavelength-division multiplexing demultiplexer on one photonic crystal chip

Optical Engineering, 2013
An integrated model of photonic crystal (PC) demultiplexer that can be used to combine dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) and coarse wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM) systems is first proposed. By applying the PC demultiplexer, dense channel spacing 0.8 nm and coarse channel spacing 20 nm are obtained at the same time. The transmission

Agile and Upgradeable Multi-wavelength Source for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Networks

LEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
We demonstrate a multi-wavelength source covering the whole C-band with 100 GHz or 50 GHz spacing on the ITU-T grid. Error-free operation of the modulated channels is obtained with identical performance to commercial DFB lasers.

Dense wavelength division multiplexing photonic transport for wireless access systems

Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit, 2003
Transporting PCS and BWA over a DWDM photonic transport system can meet system performance over the 40 km requirement. Both the PCS and BWA can be transported over longer distances however the PCS is limited by system timing requirements. Transporting these services over fiber at the native frequencies will provide both BWA and PCS networks operators ...

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Networks: Principles and Applications

2009
The very broad bandwidth of low-loss optical transmission in a single-mode fiber and the recent improvements in single-frequency tunable lasers have stimulated significant advances in dense wavelength division multiplexed optical networks. This technology, including wavelength-sensitive optical switching and routing elements and passive optical ...

Tunable spectral slicing filters for dense wavelength-division multiplexing

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2003
A new type of polarization independent guided-wave optical filter with etalon-like spectral response for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) is described and analyzed. A four-port integrated optic device performs the spectral slicing (wavelength interleaving/deinterleaving) function of selecting equally spaced frequency channels from a group of ...
