Effect of phase noise in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks
2006 IEEE Region 5 Conference, 2006In this paper, the phase stability of 50 km externally modulated 256-QAM DWDM fiber optic link is evaluated. The analysis of RF phase noise in the fiber optic link is the main objective of this work. RF phase noise is mainly investigated with preamplifier (EDFA) configuration at 1550 nm wavelength.

Fiber-based devices for operation in fully optical networks are relatively large in size and can not be used in photonic integrated circuits (PICs). We have developed an efficient graphene-based nanophotonic switching nanocell, working in linear regime (cross state) and in non-linear regime (bar state) with relatively low optical power, so that they ...

16×16 silicon photonic AWGR for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) O-band interconnects
Silicon Photonics XV, 2020The rapid increase of bandwidth requirements across the entire hierarchy of Data Center (DC) networks, ranging from chip-to-chip, board-to-board up to rack-to-rack communications, puts strenuous requirements in the underlying network infrastructure that has to offer high-bandwidth and low-latency interconnection under a low-energy and low-cost envelope.

The International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) has extended its Recommendations G.694.1 and G.872 to include a new Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) grid by defining a set of nominal central frequencies, channel spacings, and the concept of the "frequency slot".

In this paper, a dense wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (DWDM-PON) using cross seeding system is designed and evaluated. This system utilizes 16 channels with low channel spacing of 12.5 GHz. Upstream (US) capacity is enhanced to 2.5 Gb/s over 25 km single mode fiber (SMF) transmission. This optical network has a downstream (DS)

Multiplexing technologies enable the development of high-brightness diode lasers for direct industrial applications. We present a High-Power Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer (HP-DWDM) with an average channel spacing of 1.7 (1.5) nm and a subsequent external cavity mirror to provide feedback for frequency stabilization and multiplexing in one step.
