Quantum Metropolitan Optical Network based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is maturing quickly. However, the current approaches to its application in optical networks make it an expensive technology.

Comparative analysis of the dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) scheme in long-haul dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technique in optical communication was used to improve the system performance combined several channels in a transmission line especially for long-haul optical link, but the presence of dispersion limited the system performance.

Integrated frequency comb source of heralded single photons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report an integrated photon pair source based on a CMOS-compatible microring resonator that generates multiple, simultaneous, and independent photon pairs at different wavelengths in a frequency comb compatible with fiber communication wavelength ...

Non‐Markovian Dynamics in Fiber Delay‐Line Buffers

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2025.
A qubit‐fiber birefringence‐reservoir model is proposed to explore the non‐Markovian dynamics of the fiber‐based buffered photon and its paired photon. The non‐Markovian probability function is obtained by performing full quantum state tomography. The probability function fits well with experimental data and physical values.

Experimental Demonstration of π Equivalent Phase-Shifted SBG Laser With Controlled Distributed Phase Shift

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We designed and fabricated a π equivalent phase-shifted sampled Bragg grating (SBG) semiconductor laser with a controlled distributed phase shift. The phase shift is equivalently realized with reconstruction-equivalent-chirp (REC) technique.

Electrically tunable ring resonators incorporating nematic liquid crystals as cladding layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We have demonstrated electrical tuning in ring resonators fabricated from silicon-on-insulator wafers by incorporating nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) as the waveguide top and side cladding material. Photolithographically defined electrodes aligned around

On‐chip frequency‐bin quantum photonics

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 14, Issue 11, Page 1879-1894, June 2025.
Abstract Frequency‐bin encoding furnishes a compelling pathway for quantum information processing systems compatible with established lightwave infrastructures based on fiber‐optic transmission and wavelength‐division multiplexing. Yet although significant progress has been realized in proof‐of‐principle tabletop demonstrations, ranging from arbitrary ...

A Performance Comparison of Centralized and Distributed Spectrum Management Techniques in Elastic Optical Networks

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2019
Elastic optical networks (EONs) have emerged to provide higher spectrum efficiency than traditional Dense Wavelength-Division-Multiplexing (DWDM) by utilizing enabling technologies such as flexible spectrum grid, Orthogonal Frequency Division ...
