Species functional traits affect regional and local dominance across western Amazonian forests
Dominant tree species in western Amazonian forests show distinct functional trait combinations linked to habitat type: conservative traits in stressful habitats and greater plant size in less stressful environments. Local dominants are defined by resource conservation strategies and widespread dominants are defined by resource acquisition strategies. A

Indexación: Web of Science; RedalycThe effects of predators on the density of prey and their resources have been widely studied; however, there is little evidence on the effects of the predators in conjunction with the availability of resources on the ...

Mapping the density of giant trees in the Amazon
Summary Tall trees (height ≥ 60 m) are keystone elements of tropical forests, strongly influencing biodiversity, carbon storage, and ecosystem resilience. Yet, their density and spatial distribution remain poorly quantified, especially in remote Amazonian regions, limiting our understanding of their ecological roles and contribution to forest–climate ...

Abstract Context. Exploring how Indigenous People interact with plants through their functional traits allows us to understand the ecological bases of plant selection. Functional traits can help explain why certain plants are consistently chosen for specific purposes across diverse cultural contexts.

Bias in density estimations using strip transects in dry open-country environments in the Canary Islands [PDF]
We studied bias in density estimations derived from strip transects in dry open-country in the Canary Islands. We also present some critical remarks on García-del-Rey’s (2005) paper regarding strip transects and the validity of comparisons based on ...
