Dental Bleaching, Microabrasion, and Resin Infiltration: Case Report of Minimally Invasive Treatment of Enamel Hypoplasia

The International Journal of Prosthodontics, 2020
Enamel hypoplasia occurs because of a defect in formation of the organic matrix during the development of tooth enamel. Minimally invasive procedures of the slightly altered enamel contribute to a greater longevity of teeth and prevent them from relapsing into the repetitive restorative cycle.

A laboratory assessment of enamel hypoplasia of teeth with varying severities of dental fluorosis

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1999
The effect of lifelong exposure to drinking‐water containing fluoride on tooth enamel microhardness was investigated. Dental fluorosis of teeth from adult subjects, who lived continuously since birth in areas characterized by the hot climate of India, supplied by drinking‐water containing between 0·5 and 8·7 parts/10 F, was estimated by the Dean score.

The Role of Albumin in Developing Rodent Dental Enamel: A Possible Explanation for White Spot Hypoplasia

Journal of Dental Research, 1992
The uptake of serum albumin by maturation-stage rodent enamel and the resulting effects on the growth of enamel crystallites were investigated in vitro. Albumin uptake was demonstrated by means of gel electrophoresis and confirmed by Western blotting with use of monoclonal antibodies.

A quantitative backscattered electron imaging study of hypomineralization and hypoplasia in fluorosed dental enamel of deer

Annals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1997
Mineral content and distribution of fluorosed and unfluorosed (control) dental enamel of roe deer and red deer cheek teeth were analyzed using digital backscattered electron (BSE) imaging of PMMA-embedded specimens. Compared to the controls, the fluorosed enamel exhibited various aberrations resulting from a fluoride-induced disturbance of the ...

Dental enamel hypoplasia and famines: physiological stress in 18th century Provence

2018
Dental linear enamel hypoplasia (LEH) is a well-established physiologi-cal stress marker, which gives information about the stress someone suffers until age 7. In this presentation we analyse the occurrence of LEH in an archaeo-osteological collection of victims of the Great Plague of Marseilles (1720-1722, south of France), who went through several ...
