Interface Wettability Transition‐Driven Drug Release and Dual‐Phase Functionalization in Implant Abutment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

Measurement of the interface of external connection implants with metal or zirconia abutments under scanning electron microscopy

open access: yesRGO: Revista Gaúcha de Odontologia
Objective Microgap at the implant–abutment interface is a critical factor that may influence both survival- and success rates of dental implants. Several studies have found that the shape of the abutment and implant, the kind of connection between the ...

A Blood‐Derived Double‐Network Hydrogel with Robust Wet Adhesion for Keratinized Mucosa Regeneration via Neutrophil Phenotype Reprogramming and Mechanophysical Niche Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The iPRF‐MA/Alg‐NHS/Lut@EGCG (PGAE) double‐network hydrogel achieves durable wet adhesion in the oral environment. It simultaneously reprograms neutrophils from NETosis to phagocytosis for biofilm clearance, and activates the FAK‐RhoA‐YAP mechanotransduction pathway in gingival fibroblasts to drive extracellular matrix remodeling, thereby promoting ...

Impaired healing following implant placement surgery: A case report of a modern‐day manifestation of scurvy

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Delayed wound healing following implant placement surgery is an uncommon complication, usually attributed to systemic (smoking and alcohol), local (severely inflamed tissues), or technical (poor suturing) factors. However, delayed wound healing after implant placement caused by severe hypovitaminosis C has not been previously ...

Challenges of Soft Tissue Integration Around Dental Implants and Strategies Based on Material Surface Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
The stability and long‐term survival of dental implants depend not only on osseointegration, but also on complete and rigid soft tissue integration (STI) in the transgingival area.

Perigraftitis, an independent biologic complication associated with implants placed in grafted bone

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Perigraftitis is a recently introduced concept describing biologic complications specifically associated with implants placed in grafted bone. It is characterized by inflammation resulting from bacterial colonization of grafted bone and/or residual graft particulates.

Modified Neumann incision for implant placement in overdentures: Case series of a less invasive alternative

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Conventional envelope flap techniques for implant placement in edentulous mandibles are associated with greater postoperative morbidity, especially in elderly patients or those with anatomical limitations. Minimally invasive alternatives aim to preserve soft tissues and reduce complications, enhancing clinical predictability ...

Comparative Study on the Effect of Various Implant-Abutment Connections on Microbial Leakage

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: Microbial leakage at the implant-abutment interface can lead to peri-implantitis, jeopardizing the long-term success of dental implants. The design and type of implant-abutment connection play a significant role in minimizing this leakage ...

Combination of autogenous dentin graft and allograft for horizontal ridge augmentation: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Autogenous particulate dentin has emerged as one of the promising biocompatible alternatives to traditional bone graft materials in alveolar ridge augmentation. Although its clinical success is documented, comprehensive studies combining histological and radiographic evaluations remain limited. This case report addresses this gap by
