Effect of laser-dimpled titanium surfaces on attachment of epithelial-like cells and fibroblasts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
PurposeThe objective of this study was to conduct an in vitro comparative evaluation of polished and laserdimpled titanium (Ti) surfaces to determine whether either surface has an advantage in promoting the attachment of epithelial-like cells and ...

Cell Calcification Models and Their Implications for Medicine and Biomaterial Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Calcification, is the process by which the tissues containing minerals are formed, occurring during normal physiological processes, or in pathological conditions. Here, it is aimed to give a comprehensive overview of the range of cell models available, and the approaches taken by these models, highlighting when and how methodological divergences arise,

Er:YAG laser, piezosurgery, and surgical drill for bone decortication during orthodontic mini-implant insertion: primary stability analysis-an animal study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
It is important to identify factors that affect primary stability of orthodontic mini-implants because it determines the success of treatment. We assessed mini-implant primary stability (initial mechanical engagement with the bone) placed in pig jaws. We

Facile Deep Brain Electrode Coating with MXene for Improved Electrode Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Facile dip‐coating of commercial carbon fiber electrodes with Ti3C2Tx MXene improves electrical conductivity, reduces impedance, and enables single‐neuron recordings in the rat hippocampus over four weeks. The coating maintains biocompatibility, minimizes inflammation, and remains MRI‐compatible.

A Technique for Duplicating a Fixed Complete Denture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The fixed implant prosthesis often requires repair due to fracture and/or wear of acrylic resin teeth. Repair of such a prosthesis, although simple, requires retaining the prosthesis to be revised in the laboratory.

Dental Implants

open access: yes, 2020
The goal of modern dentistry is to return patients to oral health in a predictable fashion. The partial and complete edentulous patient may be unable to recover normal function, esthetics, comfort, or speech with a traditional removable prosthesis.

Biologically Active Implants Prevent Mortality in a Mouse Sepsis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A modular, triple‐action titanium implant is developed to prevent implant‐associated infections by repelling bacteria, killing pathogens, and enhancing tissue integration. Coatings with phage cocktails targeting P. aeruginosa and S. aureus show significant bacterial reduction and improved survival in a mouse sepsis model.
