Extrusion of Heterogeneous Filament‐like Structures: A New Paradigm in Fabricating Soft Mechanical Gradient with Long Span

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
An extrusion‐based technique to engineer a stiffness gradient interphase material that seamlessly bridges soft‐to‐hard interface without strain localization in multimaterial systems is presented. The gradient is obtained by spatial control of the distribution of reinforcing expandable microspheres in polydimethylsiloxane.

Analysis of PM2.5 Morphology, Composition and Health Risk in a Multi‐Chair Dental Clinic

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5) at high concentrations in dental clinics poses significant health risks to healthcare professionals. However, the morphology and chemical composition of PM2.5 in specific environments are not yet fully elucidated.

Study of the bactericidal properties of polylactic acid‐based 3D filament

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
PLA with a metallic additive exhibits no antibacterial properties, whereas a photocatalytic TiO2 additive, activated by UV irradiation, produces reactive oxigen species (ROS) that induce bacterial inactivation. Abstract The spread of microorganisms is a global challenge for health, the environment, and the economy.
