Expertise‐inspired artificial intelligence pipeline for clinically applicable reconstruction of tooth‐centric radial planes: Development and multicenter validation

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The expertise‐inspired AI pipeline demonstrates significant clinical utility for rapid and precise analysis of dento‐maxillofafcial CBCT and benefits for intelligent oral health management. Abstract Owing to the tooth‐centered nature of most oral diseases, the tooth‐centric radial plane of cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) depicts the anatomical and

Personalized On-line Adaptation of Kinematic Synergies for Human-Prosthesis Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Trans. Cybern. (2019) 1-15, 2019
Synergies have been adopted in prosthetic limb applications to reduce complexity of design, but typically involve a single synergy setting for a population and ignore individual preference or adaptation capacity. However, personalization of the synergy setting is necessary for the effective operation of the prosthetic device.

Quality of communication between dentists and dental laboratory technicians for fixed prosthodontics in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

open access: yesSaudi Dental Journal, 2017
The fabrication of a clinically acceptable dental prosthesis requires proper communication between the dentist and the dental technician. Prosthodontic educators have been concerned with this interaction and communication.

The distally anchored connective tissue graft platform for papilla enhancement: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background As the need for using dental implants to replace single missing teeth grows, so does the demand for greater esthetic results. However, achieving complete interproximal papillae fill in single‐tooth implant restorations remains a challenge. The distally anchored connective tissue platform is a novel soft tissue augmentation technique

A convolutional neural network for teeth margin detection on 3-dimensional dental meshes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We proposed a convolutional neural network for vertex classification on 3-dimensional dental meshes, and used it to detect teeth margins. An expanding layer was constructed to collect statistic values of neighbor vertex features and compute new features for each vertex with convolutional neural networks.

Crestal approach for repair of oroantral bone defects and subsequent implant placement

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Oroantral communication (OAC) can occur after a dental extraction. Occasionally, bony defects may persist despite successful soft tissue closure of the OAC. The absence of bone in these areas poses challenges for dental implant placement.

The psychosocial experiences of human papillomavirus (HPV) positive oropharyngeal cancer patients following (chemo)radiotherapy: A systematic review and meta‐ethnography

open access: yesPsycho-Oncology, Volume 31, Issue 12, Page 2009-2019, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective The UK incidence of oropharyngeal cancer has risen sharply over the last 30 years with an increase in human papillomavirus (HPV) associated diagnoses, most prevalent in younger, working age populations. This meta‐ethnography explores the psychosocial needs of HPV+ve oropharyngeal cancer patients during early recovery following (chemo)

A Sequential Framework for Detection and Classification of Abnormal Teeth in Panoramic X-rays [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper describes our solution for the Dental Enumeration and Diagnosis on Panoramic X-rays Challenge at MICCAI 2023. Our approach consists of a multi-step framework tailored to the task of detecting and classifying abnormal teeth. The solution includes three sequential stages: dental instance detection, healthy instance filtering, and abnormal ...
