Instant restore after a media failure [PDF]
Media failures usually leave database systems unavailable for several hours until recovery is complete, especially in applications with large devices and high transaction volume. Previous work introduced a technique called single-pass restore, which increases restore bandwidth and thus substantially decreases time to repair.

Compared with those on the pTi surface, macrophages on the TNTs surface present reduced myosin II contractility, which facilitates the nuclear translocation of the UTX. This reduction decreases the enrichment of the repressive H3K27me3 histone modification at the Abca1 gene locus, which promotes the transcription and protein expression of ABCA1 ...

Surface texturing of Ti6Al4V alloy using femtosecond laser for superior antibacterial performance [PDF]
Titanium and its alloy are most widely used implant materials in dental and orthopaedic fields. However, infections occurring during implantation leads to implant failure in most of the cases. Here, we have demonstrated antibacterial behavior of Ti6Al4V alloy achieved when surface modified using femtosecond laser beam.

High‐Density Flexible Neural Implants with Submicron Feedline Resolution
Optimization of microfabrication methods using optical contact lithography (OCL) and electron beam lithography (EBL) enables the fabrication of 64‐channel, high‐density, parylene‐C‐based intracortical implants with submicron feedlines as narrow as 400 and 50 nm, respectively.

MI image registration using prior knowledge [PDF]
Subtraction of aligned images is a means to assess changes in a wide variety of clinical applications. In this paper we explore the information theoretical origin of Mutual Information (MI), which is based on Shannon's entropy. However, the interpretation of standard MI registration as a communication channel suggests that MI is too restrictive a ...
