Chemical and mechanical resistance of novel experimental hybrid coatings on dentin permeability

Microscopy research and technique (Print), 2020
This study aimed to evaluate the capacity of novel experimental hybrid coatings (HC) to reduce dentin permeability and to verify their resistance to erosive and abrasive challenges. Dentin disc specimens (1 mm thick) were treated with 0.5 M EDTA solution

Permeability Effects of Two Dentin Adhesive Systems

Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, 1992
This in vitro study evaluated the effects of two dentin adhesive systems on dentin permeability. The XR‐Bonding System modifies the smear layer but does not open dentinal tubules. The Kanca or “total‐etch” technique (phosphoric acid, Tenure A and B, Scotchbond 2 Adhesive) removes the smear layer and opens dentinal tubules.

Dentinal Permeability in Assessing Therapeutic Agents

Dental Clinics of North America, 1990
The measurement of dentinal permeability has been useful in confirming the mechanism of the hydrodynamic hypothesis for pain transmission in hypersensitive patients, has advanced our understanding of how neural agents can reach the pulpal nerves, and has provided useful data to compare and evaluate therapeutic agents.

The permeability of artificial dentine carious lesions

Archives of Oral Biology, 2008
This study aimed to verify whether two demineralisation solutions, with different fluoride concentrations, would produce subsurface lesions in dentine, as assessed by microradiography, with different mineral loss profiles and, subsequently, to determine the dentine permeability of the two altered tissues.Forty-five human coronal portions were prepared ...

Effect of in-office desensitizers containing calcium and phosphate on dentin permeability and tubule occlusion.

E -journal of dentistry, 2019
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the performance of calcium/phosphate desensitizing agents when used for dentin permeability and tubule occlusion. METHODS 1 mm-thick dentin specimens were immersed in 17% EDTA solution and allocated into 7 groups: 1.

Dentin permeability to bacterial proteins in vitro

Journal of Endodontics, 1994
Passage of bacterial components through dentin is a subject of recent research with in vitro as well as with in vivo models. Diffusive transport of Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277 proteins has been demonstrated by the authors with an in vitro setup closely simulating the pulp chamber. The purpose of this investigation was to study the filtration of

Dentin permeability: Effects of smear layer removal

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1981
The results of this study permit the following conclusions: 1. The use of dilute (6%) citric acid for very short time intervals permits sequential removal of the smear layer on human dentin. 2. Acid-etching for as little as 5 seconds removes much of the smear layer and exposes the orifices of dentinal tubules. 3.

Effect of dentin conditioning on dentin permeability and micro‐shear bond strength

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 2007
The purpose of this study was to compare fluid flow rates across dentin surfaces treated with four conditioners. The effect of conditioning on the micro‐shear bond strengths of glass ionomer cement (Fuji IX GP) and resin‐based adhesives (Single Bond 2 or Clearfil SE Bond) were also investigated.

Effect of Conventional and Acid-modified Casein Phosphopeptide-Amorphous Calcium Phosphate Crèmes on Dentin Permeability Before and After Acid Challenge.

Operative dentistry, 2019
This study investigated the effect of conventional and acidified casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate-containing crèmes (CPP-ACP and ACPP-ACP) on dentin permeability (DP) before and after acid challenge, using a fluid-flow measuring device ...

The effects of a multi-step dentin bonding system on dentin permeability

Dental Materials, 1988
Abstract Composite resin was bonded to dentin of crown segments using the multi-step Bowen bonding method. The permeability of the crown segments was measured before and after each step of the procedure to determine their effects on dentin permeability. Treatment of dentin smear layers with ferric oxalate alone reduced dentin permeability by 65%. The
