Dental crown morphological variation and heterodonty in carcharhiniform sharks

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Elasmobranch teeth are highly mineralized structures that constitute the majority of the fossil record for this group. Despite their taxonomic and evolutionary significance, detailed descriptions of dental morphology remain scarce. The order Carcharhiniformes, the most diverse among sharks, comprises 304 valid species that display remarkable ...

Criteria for assessing malocclusion in the mixed dentition in epidemiological studies: A Scope Review

open access: yes
A scoping review, which will investigate the different assessments of malocclusion in the mixed dentition phase in epidemiological studies to identify the gaps in this methodology for identifying and classifying malocclusions.

Cortical bone distribution in the human mandibular symphysis: Ontogenic and morphometric approaches in archeological context

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The human mandibular symphysis concentrates multiaxial loads during function and remodels throughout growth, but the precise mechanisms underlying cortical bone shape during growth remain relatively unexplored. Approaches based solely on thickness or external cortical contours provide only partial insights and do not capture the functional ...

Applicability of Moyers analysis in mixed dentition: A systematic review

open access: yes, 2013
INTRODUCTION: Moyers analysis is widely used for analyzing mixed dentition, however, the accuracy of its theoretical probability tables has been recently questioned.

Previously undocumented regional variability in crab‐eating macaque skull sexual dimorphism and its implications for biological and morphometric studies

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.

Prediction of canine and premolar size using the widths of various permanent teeth combinations: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2015
Aims: To suggest the best predictor/s for determining the mesio-distal widths (MDWs) of canines (C) and premolars (Ps), and propose regression equation/s for hitherto unreported population.

Siddegowda R et al. Malocclusion status in Mixed and Permanent dentition of school children. Original Article Malocclusion status in Mixed and Permanent dentition of school children in

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Malocclusion can compromise the oral health tissues and can lead to social and psychological problem. Hence an investigation of the malocclusion status at the developing stages of the dentitions to intercept the same is required.
