Radiopaque denture base materials technic dentures
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1971AbstractTechnic dentures were made using composite base materials containing 30,40, and 50 weight % of a silanceātreated, readiopaque, powdered glass as the reinforcing filler and poly (methyl methacrylate) as the matrix. Dentures containing no glass were included for comparison.

Abstract Clear acrylic resin bases were made from impressions made under different amounts of pressure. Occlusal tables were fitted to them so that an arch-form air bag attached to a sphygmomanometer gauge could be used to control the pressures. The effect of the different pressures on the basal seat tissue was recorded.

The laboratory procedures for a cast aluminum base denture have been presented. If an induction casting machine is not available, the "two-oven technique" works well, provided the casting arm is kept spinning manually for 4 minutes after casting. If laboratory procedures are executed precisely and with care, the aluminum base denture can be cast with ...

A variety of materials have been used in the fabrication of denture bases. The advantages and disadvantages of these materials are discussed. Special emphasis is placed on polymeric material. particularly poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The chemical basis for formation of PMMA is provided to facilitate understanding.

Pink-colored baseplate wax has long been used for waxing the contours of complete dentures. It works well and easily for those adept in its use. However, for others it is more difficult. Play clay, such as used by school children, that is not water-soluble or Ti-cene (Ticonium Co., Albany, N.Y.) material may be used as the final contouring layer after ...

Numerous investigations have concluded that the conventional acrylic resins, processed with the usual technique of compression molding, produce dentures that are just as stable in dimension and as satisfactory as dentures produced with special resins and elaborate processing equipment.

Abstract Accurately fitted baseplates are necessary for establishing the correct jaw relations and esthetics for edentulous patients. The correctness of jaw relations, esthetics, and fit can be tested by means of baseplates made from a combination of a hard cold-curing acrylic resin and a soft-curing acrylic resin in undercut areas.
