Centrifugal casting process for resin-base dentures

Abstract A technique has been described for casting acrylic resin dentures into a gypsum mold with a centrifugal casting machine. Enough centrifugal force is generated to easily force the 3:1 mix of resin into the mold by volume. This proportion is usually recommended for compression molding of heat-curing acrylic resins.

The transverse strengths of three denture base resins

Ten specimens each of (1) Lucitone 199, short- and long-cured, (2) Accelar 20, and (3) Triad materials were broken using a 3-point load on an Instron Universal testing machine after processing and air drying. Five specimens of each resin also were broken after storage in deionized distilled water at 37 degrees C for 30, 60, and 90 days.

Shear adhesive strength tests were conducted to examine the adhesion of a newly developed light-polymerized denture base resin (LPR) to resin teeth and denture base materials. When LPR was bonded to these materials with a new light-activated bonding agent, the adhesive strength improved greatly.
