Shade variability and stability in interim and definitive tooth‐colored resin‐based restorative materials: Comparing manufacturer‐claimed shades to a universal shade guide

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the shade variability and stability of interim and definitive tooth‐colored restorative materials by comparing manufacturer‐claimed shades to a universal shade guide before and after thermocycling. Materials and Methods Eight commercially available tooth‐colored restorative materials were tested, including conventional ...

Assessing the influence of titanium dioxide nanotubes incorporation on thermal and thermomechanical characteristics of 3D‐printed denture base resin

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to evaluate the effects of adding titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes (NTs) to three‐dimensional (3D) printed denture base resin on the thermal and thermomechanical properties, which have high clinical relevance. Materials and Methods TiO2 NTs with dimensions of 30–70 nm in diameter and 2–4 µm in length were added to the ...

Radiopaque denture base materials technic dentures

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1971
AbstractTechnic dentures were made using composite base materials containing 30,40, and 50 weight % of a silance‐treated, readiopaque, powdered glass as the reinforcing filler and poly (methyl methacrylate) as the matrix. Dentures containing no glass were included for comparison.

Colour effect of denture base on denture tooth materials

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1988
SummaryA study using a HunterLab colorimeter was conducted to determine the colour effect of denture base materials on denture tooth acrylics. The results show that denture base materials create a measurable change in the chroma of denture tooth acrylics and suggest that optimal shade selection of teeth should include a determination of the background ...

A Hydrophilic Denture Base Resin

Journal of Dental Research, 1979
A Denture Base Resin is marketed with hydrophilic characteristics which, it is claimed, improve retention. The claim has been questioned, but this article is concerned with the physico-chemical properties of the product.

Conversion in denture base polymers

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1982
AbstractThe purpose of this investigation was to determine residual monomers, the insoluble gel fraction, and singly reacted dimethacrylate monomers in heat‐polymerized, auto‐polymerized conventional and pourtype denture base materials. Residual monomers were determined by HPLC analysis of tetrahydrofuran extracts of denture base polymers.

Denture base pressure tests

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1967
Abstract Clear acrylic resin bases were made from impressions made under different amounts of pressure. Occlusal tables were fitted to them so that an arch-form air bag attached to a sphygmomanometer gauge could be used to control the pressures. The effect of the different pressures on the basal seat tissue was recorded.

DENTURE BASE MATERIALS

Dental Clinics of North America, 1996
A variety of materials have been used in the fabrication of denture bases. The advantages and disadvantages of these materials are discussed. Special emphasis is placed on polymeric material. particularly poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The chemical basis for formation of PMMA is provided to facilitate understanding.
