Effects of Meal Consumption on Isotonic Lingual Endurance in Healthy Adults: A Multi‐Institutional Study

Isotonic tongue endurance was measured pre‐ and post‐meal using the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI) in healthy younger (18–35 years) and older (≥ 65 years) adults. Older adults demonstrated greater isotonic endurance and longer mealtimes, with no sex differences in endurance.

Suprahyoid Muscle Activity and Fatigue During Tongue Elevation Compared With the Head Lift Exercise: A Surface EMG Study

Tongue elevation elicited suprahyoid muscle activity comparable to the head lift exercise, despite a greater decline in median frequency over time. Tongue elevation may represent a practical alternative or complementary exercise for suprahyoid muscle training.
