Smart Denture with Embedded Thin‐Film Temperature Sensors Patterned by Femtosecond Laser Pulse for Elderly Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
We demonstrate the direct‐laser patterning of a gold thin film on polymethyl methacrylate to fabricate a temperature sensor for dentures. The temperature sensor‐embedded smart dentures are evaluated in an oral environment, enabling in‐situ monitoring for elderly healthcare.

Early stages of tooth development in the harbor porpoise Phocoena phocoena

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Here we describe the stages of tooth development in toothed whales on the basis of the harbor porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). The aim of the study was to find out whether these stages are identical to those of other mammals analyzed so far although toothed whales are homodont and monophyodont.

Impaired healing following implant placement surgery: A case report of a modern‐day manifestation of scurvy

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Delayed wound healing following implant placement surgery is an uncommon complication, usually attributed to systemic (smoking and alcohol), local (severely inflamed tissues), or technical (poor suturing) factors. However, delayed wound healing after implant placement caused by severe hypovitaminosis C has not been previously ...

Effect of different surface treatments on shear bond strength of autopolymerizing repair resin to denture base materials processed with different technologies.

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontic Research
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of chemical, mechanical, and combination surface treatments on the shear bond strength (SBS) of autopolymerizing repair resins to conventional heat-cured, computer aided design (CAD)-computer aided manufacturing (CAM ...

Subperiosteal tunnel assisted graft (STAG) technique: Report of two cases

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This case report describes the clinical application of the subperiosteal tunnel‐assisted graft (STAG) technique, a novel approach for peri‐implant phenotype modification and keratinized tissue augmentation. Although free gingival grafts remain the gold standard for increasing keratinized tissue width, their effectiveness may be ...

Acrylic denture base repair (part I): Estimations of repair space, profile designs, and residual monomer calibration curve on strength of denture base. [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Rafidain Dental Journal, 2006
Aims: To estimate the best profile design used for repair at the fractured area, the suitable space to be left between the two fracture pieces, and to determine the percentage of residual monomer calibration curve of heat cured acrylic resin polymerized ...

EFFECT OF ADDITION RAMIE AND COCONUT COIR FIBERS WITH DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS ON TENSILE STRENGTH OF ACRYLIC DENTURE BASE

open access: yesJournal of Vocational Health Studies, 2023
Background: Acrylic denture base material has advantages such as good aesthetics, ease of repair, and affordable price, but this denture has mechanical properties, one of which is low tensile strength so fractures often occur during use.
