Allosteric Regulation of RNA Affinity by Motif V‐VI Coupling in West Nile Virus NS3 Helicase

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rise of flaviviral diseases, including West Nile virus (WNV), presents a growing threat to global public health and underscores the urgent need for new therapeutic strategies. The non‐structural protein 3 helicase (NS3h) of the Orthoflavivirus genus, including WNV, is essential for viral replication and a promising antiviral target ...

Structural Basis of Differential Neutralization of DENV-1 Genotypes by an Antibody that Recognizes a Cryptic Epitope

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
We previously developed a panel of neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against Dengue virus (DENV)-1, of which few exhibited inhibitory activity against all DENV-1 genotypes. This finding is consistent with reports observing variable neutralization of different DENV strains and genotypes using serum from individuals that experienced natural infection or

Unravelling Electronic Structure and Molecular Vibrations of Proteins in Virus Using Novel Correlated Plasmon‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy With Machine Learning

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A novel, non‐destructive, stable, direct technique, named correlated plasmon‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (CP‐ERS), which is based on a newly‐developed highly oriented single crystalline gold quantum dots (HOSG‐QDs) chip, is developed to measure and quantify molecular vibrations and electronic structure of analytes.

Identifying the strains of dengue circulating in the western province of Sri Lanka during 2019-2022.

open access: yesPLOS Global Public Health
A study conducted from July 2019 to May 2022 at several hospitals in the Western Province, Sri Lanka, focused on dengue virus strains during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among 417 febrile patients, 47% were PCR-positive for dengue.

Novel Wide‐Spectrum Virucidal Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
POSTAN is a novel broad‐spectrum antiviral nanoparticle that combines safety with potent virucidal activity. Composed of biocompatible lipids, it mimics heparan sulfate proteoglycans and lipid rafts exploited by viruses, thereby dismantling viral envelopes and blocking replication.

Exploring the genetic diversity of the 3′ untranslated region (UTR) of Dengue virus

open access: yesVirology Journal
Background Dengue virus (DENV), with its four antigenically distinct serotypes, is the etiological agent of dengue fever, which is endemic in tropical and subtropical regions but has recently spread to previously non-endemic areas such as Europe.

Dengue viruses in Papua New Guinea: evidence of endemicity and phylogenetic variation, including the evolution of new genetic lineages

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2017
Dengue is the most common cause of mosquito-borne viral disease in humans, and is endemic in more than 100 tropical and subtropical countries. Periodic outbreaks of dengue have been reported in Papua New Guinea (PNG), but there is only limited knowledge ...

DENV and ZIKV detection in patients with acute febrile syndrome in Córdoba, Colombia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2020
Objective: To determine simultaneous circulation of DENV serotypes and ZIKV in Córdoba, Colombia, during 2015 and 2016. Material and methods: A total of 294 samples from patients with clinical diagnosis of febrile syndrome compatible with dengue were ...

Maltase 1 regulates DENV2 infection and life history in Aedes aegypti

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Our study employed CRISPR/Cas9 to generate a MAL1 knockout strain of Aedes aegypti, demonstrating that the absence of MAL1 significantly suppresses DENV2 replication in the midgut and impairs viral transmission. The mutation also altered life‐history (hatching/pupation/emerging rates and sex‐specific survival), identifying MAL1 as a novel target for ...

Investigation of polymorphisms in the genome of Dengue virus - DOI: 10.3395/reciis.v1i2.Sup.102en

open access: yesRECIIS, 2007
In the present study, we investigated the nucleotide polymorphisms among the four genotypes of the Dengue virus - DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4 - by qualitative and quantitative characterization.
