Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

Електрохімічне відновлення бензойної кислоти на наноструктурованих нікелевих електродах [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

GaAs droplet quantum dots with nanometer-thin capping layer for plasmonic applications

open access: yes, 2017
We report on the growth and optical characterisation of droplet GaAs quantum dots with extremely-thin (11 nm) capping layers. To achieve such result, an internal thermal heating step is introduced during the growth and its role in the morphological ...

Detection of bottom ferromagnetic electrode oxidation in magnetic tunnel junctions by magnetometry measurements

open access: yes, 2010
Surface oxidation of the bottom ferromagnetic (FM) electrode, one of the major detrimental factors to the performance of a Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ), is difficult to avoid during the fabrication process of the MTJ's tunnel barrier.
