Matrix attachment regions as targets for retroviral integration [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The randomness of retroviral integration has been debated for many years. Recent evidence indicates that integration site selection is not random, and that it is influenced by both viral and cellular factors.

Site-specific platinum(II) cross-linking in a ribozyme active site.
The function of RNA depends on its ability to adopt complex and dynamic structures, and the incorporation of site-specific cross-linking probes is a powerful method for providing distance constraints that are valuable in RNA structural biology.

An Endonuclease Excising 8-Oxo-2'-deoxyguanosine in Regenerating Rat Liver [PDF]
Oxidative DNA damage is generated in every tissue in the body, and is mainly excised by glycosylases. However, endonucleases and exonucleases are suggested as being present in tissues, since oxidized nucleosides such as thymidine glycol and 8-Oxo-2 ...

Codominance and toxins: A path to drugs of nearly unlimited selectivity [PDF]
The effectiveness of drugs is often limited by their insufficient selectivity. I propose designs of therapeutic agents that address this problem. The key feature of these reagents, termed comtoxins (codominance-mediated toxins), is their ability to ...

The Toxic Effects of Aflatoxin B1: An Update [PDF]
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most toxic in aflatoxin family. It is well known for its involvement in hepatic carcinogenesis. Other adverse effects include immune weakness, reproduction deficiency, malnutrition, and growth impairment.

The possible detection of high redshift Type II QSOs in deep fields [PDF]
The colours of high redshift Type II QSOs are synthesized from observations of moderate redshift systems. It is shown that Type II QSOs are comparable to starbursts in their success at matching the colours of z_850-dropouts and i_775-drops in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, and more naturally account for the bluest objects detected.

Site-specific integration of DNA into wild-type and mutant lox sites placed in the plant genome.
The bacteriophage P1 Cre-lox site-specific recombination system has been used to integrate DNA specifically at lox sites previously placed in the tobacco genome. As integrated molecules flanked by wild-type lox sites can readily excise in the presence of

Cellular and Secretory Proteins of the Salivary Glands of \u3cem\u3eSciara coprophila\u3c/em\u3e During the Larval-pupal Transformation [PDF]
The cellular and secretory proteins of the salivary gland of Sciara coprophila during the stages of the larval-pupal transformation were examined by electrophoresis in 0.6 mm sheets of polyacrylamide gel with both SDS-continuous and discontinuous buffer ...

Activation of nucleases, pcd, and mobilization of reserves in the araucaria angustifolia megagametophyte during germination [PDF]
The megagametophyte of mature seeds of Araucaria angustifolia consists of cells with thin walls, one or more nuclei, a central vacuole storing proteins, and a cytoplasm rich in amyloplasts, mitochondria and lipid bodies.

Connecting Leptonic CP Violation, Lightest Neutrino Mass and Baryon Asymmetry Through Type II Seesaw [PDF]
We study the possibility of connecting leptonic Dirac CP phase $\delta$, lightest neutrino mass and baryon asymmetry of the Universe within the framework of a model where both type I and type II seesaw mechanisms contribute to neutrino mass. Type I seesaw gives rise to Tri-Bimaximal (TBM) type neutrino mixing whereas type II seesaw acts as a correction
