Halo Occupation Distribution Modeling of Clustering of Luminous Red Galaxies

open access: yes, 2009
We perform Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD) modeling to interpret small-scale and intermediate-scale clustering of 35,000 luminous early-type galaxies and their cross-correlation with a reference imaging sample of normal L* galaxies in the Sloan ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

A point on discrete versus continuous state-space Markov chains

open access: yesDependence Modeling
This article investigates the effects of discrete marginal distributions on copula-based Markov chains. We establish results on mixing properties and parameter estimation for a copula-based Markov chain model with Bernoulli(pp) marginal distributions ...

Law invariant risk measures and information divergences

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2018
Aone-to-one correspondence is drawnbetween lawinvariant risk measures and divergences, which we define as functionals of pairs of probability measures on arbitrary standard Borel spaces satisfying a few natural properties.

The de Finetti structure behind some norm-symmetric multivariate densities with exponential decay

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2020
We derive a sufficient condition on the symmetric norm ||·|| such that the probability distribution associated with the density function f (x) ∝exp(−λ ||x||) is conditionally independent and identically distributed in the sense of de Finetti’s seminal ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Transformation of a copula using the associated co-copula

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2018
We investigate the properties of a new transformation of copulas based on the co-copula and an univariate function. It is shown that several families in the copula literature can be interpreted as particular outputs of this transformation.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Diversification in Firm Valuation: A Multivariate Copula Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
We introduce a new discounted cash flow model which adopts the diversification effect of multi-business firms. We face two challenges: One is examining how different diversification extents can affect the firm value due to risk reduction, and the other ...
