Partially Accelerated Dependent Competing Risks Model under Adaptive Type-II Progressive Censoring Based on Copulas [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Statistical Journal
Most modern products are designed to operate without failures for years, decades or even more. Thus, it becomes very difficult to operate life testing for such products under normal use conditions.

Modelling competing risks data by a bivariate model with singularity originating from a shock model using the Lehmann family of distributions

open access: yesResearch in Statistics
In this article, a general family of bivariate distributions is used to model competing risks data with dependent causes. The general structure of competing risks data considered here includes ties.

Competing risks, left truncation and late entry effect in A-bomb survivors cohort [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The cohort under study comprises A-bomb survivors residing in Hiroshima Prefecture since 1968. After this year, thousands of survivors were newly recognized every year.

Features of survival analysis on patients on the «waiting list» for kidney transplantation

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2019
Survival analysis is one of the most common methods of statistical analysis in medicine. The statistical analysis of the transplantation (or death) probability dependent on the waiting time on the "waiting list" is a rare case when the survival analysis ...

Joint Modeling of Linear Degradation and Multiple Dependent Competing Risks Data under a Step-Stress Accelerated Degradation Test

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2018
The step-stress accelerated degradation test (SSADT) is one of the most commonly used time-dependent types of stress loading tests that enables a shorter test duration. This test is more economical and flexible compared to accelerated degradation test or

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

A Dependent Bivariate Burr XII Inverse Weibull Model: Application to Diabetic Retinopathy and Dependent Competing Risks Data

open access: yesMathematics
This paper introduces a novel bivariate distribution, referred to as the Bivariate Burr XII Inverse Weibull (BBXII-IW) distribution, constructed via the Marshall–Olkin approach from the univariate Burr XII Inverse Weibull (BXII-IW) distribution.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Adverse events in single-arm clinical trials with non-fatal time-to-event efficacy endpoint: from clinical questions to methods for statistical analysis

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology
Background In any single-arm trial on novel treatments, assessment of toxicity plays an important role as occurrence of adverse events (AEs) is relevant for application in clinical practice.
