Chlorine‐Free Depolymerization of Commercial PMMA via Oxygen‐Centered Radicals
A new chlorine‐free photothermal method enables sustainable recycling of plastics with C–C backbones under mild conditions. Driven by an oxygen‐centered radical pathway with ppm levels of anthraquinone catalyst, it eliminates hazardous chlorinated solvents, achieving an impressive 97% depolymerization conversion.

Bottlebrush Polyolefin Sulfones as Triggerable and Degradable Pressure‐Sensitive Adhesives
A grafting‐through alternating copolymerization strategy yields poly(norbornene sulfone) bottlebrush polymers with high molar mass. These materials function as additive‐free pressure‐sensitive adhesives. The incorporation of cleavable sulfone units enables rapid breakdown under mild alkaline conditions, providing a pathway toward sustainable, high ...

A Tert‐Alkyl Terephthalate Derivative as a Universal Degradable Unit for Condensation Polymers
A sterically bulky dicarboxylic acid core bearing a tertiary alkyl ester enables photocatalytic C─O bond cleavage via generation of a stabilized tertiary alkyl radical. Incorporated into polyarylate, polyurethane, and polyester, this universal trigger facilitates efficient degradation under identical conditions (up to 99% within 2–4 h). Remarkably, the

Coupling biosynthetic noncanonical amino acid production with genetic code expansion enables site‐specific incorporation of azatryptophans into PET‐degrading enzymes (PETases). By isosteric single‐atom editing of a conserved tryptophan, AzaPETases break the activity–stability trade‐off, delivering higher catalytic efficiency at elevated temperature and

On the Depolymerization of Actin Filaments [PDF]
Actin is one of the most abundant and highly conserved proteins in eukaryotic cells. The globular protein assembles into long filaments, which form a variety of different networks within the cytoskeleton. The dynamic reorganization of these networks - which is pivotal for cell motility, cell adhesion, and cell division - is based on cycles of ...
