Insect depredations during the storage of faba bean, pea, chickpea and lentil are significant. The most important insect pests of grain legumes during storage are the Bruchidae. Members of the genus Bruchus are important in the temperate zones of Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia, while the genus Callosobruchus has a worldwide distribution.
