Sediment–well interaction during depressurization
Acta Geotechnica, 2016Depressurization gives rise to complex sediment–well interactions that may cause the failure of wells. The situation is aggravated when high depressurization is imposed on sediments subjected to an initially low effective stress, such as in gas production from hydrate accumulations in marine sediments.

Prevent system hydrate formation during sudden depressurization
International Petroleum Technology Conference, 2007Abstract A concise and accurate methodology has been developed using well known software packages to predict the type and amount of inhibitor required during sudden depressurization of a system to prevent hydrate formation. The outlined procedure exhibits the P-T history of the system and hence the hydrate formation

Venting During Satellite System Depressurization
26th International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC), 2008Multilayer Insulation (MLI) blankets consist of closely spaced aluminum coated shields that are spaced apart to reduce heat transfer between the satellite system and the environment, particularly in vacuum. In space application, satellite systems and sub-systems are wrapped in MLI blankets to isolate them thermally from the environment and achieve ...

Experimental Study of Dust Behavior during Depressurization
Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1992A small amount of graphite dust is present in the primary cooling system of a graphite, moderated gas-cooled reactor during normal operation and condensable fission products may be absorbed on the dust. Since it is possible that the fission products are released with dust under the accident conditions such as depressurization events, they have a ...

Depressurization Amorphization of Single-Crystal Boron Carbide
Physical Review Letters, 2009We report depressurization amorphization of single-crystal boron carbide (B4C) investigated by in situ high-pressure Raman spectroscopy. It was found that localized amorphization of B4C takes place during unloading from high pressures, and nonhydrostatic stresses play a critical role in the high-pressure phase transition.

Flare Structure Heat-Up During Depressurization
Volume 1: Offshore Technology, 2018Despite regulations becoming more and more stringent, significant quantities of gas are still flared around the world every year. Indeed, for safety reasons, flaring remains a usual practice in oil and gas production in cases of process upset. For instance, emergency shutdown, when the unit must be depressurized in a short period of time, most of the ...

Depressurization Behavior and Strategy of Automatic Depressurization System for AP1000
Volume 9: Advanced Methods of Manufacturing for Nuclear Reactors and Components; Severe Accidents and Mitigation Strategies for Beyond Design Basis EventsAbstract This article through simulate small-break loss-of-coolant accidents (SBLOCA) specifically in the AP1000 and thoroughly analyze the behavior and strategy of the ADS in such accident scenarios. A comprehensive AP1000 model is constructed using the System Analysis Code, incorporating various components including the reactor coolant

Multilayer Insulation Venting During Payload Depressurization
Heat Transfer, Part B, 2005Multilayer Insulation (MLI) blankets consist of closely spaced aluminum coated shields that are spaced apart to reduce heat transfer between the payload and the environment, particularly in vacuum. In space application, satellite systems and sub-systems are wrapped in MLI blankets to thermally isolate them from the environment and achieve thermal ...

Depressurization to Mitigate Direct Containment Heating
Nuclear Technology, 1989This paper reports the capability to depressurize a three-loop pressurized water reactor during a station blackout sequence assessed using the SCDAP/RELAP5 computer code. During the initial calculations, failure of the pressurizer surge line from creep rupture was predicted prior to relocation of molten core material to the lower plenum.

Effects of Depressurization Upon Largemouth Bass
North American Journal of Fisheries Management, 1983Abstract The effects of induced, rapid depressurization upon largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), simulating conditions common to deep-water angling, were examined. Depths of 0.0, 9.1, 18.3, and 27.4 m were simulated in a large hyperbaric chamber. Statistical analyses indicated that significant mortality occurred when fish were depressurized from ...
