Pilot-scale experimental evaluation of gas recovery from methane hydrate using cycling-depressurization scheme

open access: yesEnergy, 2018
Methane hydrate is considered as a potential source of methane for energy supply. Therefore, developing approaches for enhancing gas recovery from hydrate reservoir is attracting extensive attention. The Pilot-Scale Hydrate Simulator (PHS), with an inner

Rapid depressurization of pressure vessels

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1990
Abstract Experiments were conducted on the rapid depressurization of large pressure vessels. Measurements taken included the pressure, temperatures at a large number of positions both within the fluid phase(s) and on the wall of the vessel, and composition, all as a function of time during the blowdown process.

The Characteristic of Hydrate Exploitation by Depressurization

Volume 5: Ocean Engineering, 2013
According to the schematic and properties of a methane hydrate deposit in Shenhu Area of South China Sea in China, the characteristic of hydrate dissociation, water and gas production were simulated with a depressurization method. The effect of hydrate saturation, porosity and permeability et al. on hydrate dissociation was studied, the key controlling

Brent Field Depressurization Management

SPE Offshore Europe Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Abstract The Brent Field commenced production in 1976, with annual oil production peaking in 1984 at 410 Mbbl/d. Since the mid 1980s, oil production has been declining, but because of the high solution GOR substantial gas reserves remain, dissolved in the residual and bypassed oil. In 1992 the decision was taken to depressurize the Brent

Depressurization Behavior and Strategy of Automatic Depressurization System for AP1000

Volume 9: Advanced Methods of Manufacturing for Nuclear Reactors and Components; Severe Accidents and Mitigation Strategies for Beyond Design Basis Events
Abstract This article through simulate small-break loss-of-coolant accidents (SBLOCA) specifically in the AP1000 and thoroughly analyze the behavior and strategy of the ADS in such accident scenarios. A comprehensive AP1000 model is constructed using the System Analysis Code, incorporating various components including the reactor coolant

Depressurization Amorphization of Single-Crystal Boron Carbide

Physical Review Letters, 2009
We report depressurization amorphization of single-crystal boron carbide (B4C) investigated by in situ high-pressure Raman spectroscopy. It was found that localized amorphization of B4C takes place during unloading from high pressures, and nonhydrostatic stresses play a critical role in the high-pressure phase transition.

Impact of depressurizing rate on the porosity of aerogels

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2012
Abstract The effects of supercritical drying of diluted resorcinol–formaldehyde (RF) gels in CO 2 and in acetone are compared. We show that, for both processes, depressurizing rate of the autoclave after drying has a significant influence on the resultant shrinkage, and hence on resultant bulk density, surface area and pore volumes.

Venting During Satellite System Depressurization

26th International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC), 2008
Multilayer Insulation (MLI) blankets consist of closely spaced aluminum coated shields that are spaced apart to reduce heat transfer between the satellite system and the environment, particularly in vacuum. In space application, satellite systems and sub-systems are wrapped in MLI blankets to isolate them thermally from the environment and achieve ...
