Prediction of Bridge Pier Scour Depth and Field Scour Depth Monitoring

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
In practice, it is a major challenge in real-time simulation and prediction of bridge pier scour depth, especially using 3-D numerical model. The simulation time spend too much to use 3-D numerical model simulation and inefficiently to predict bridge ...

Geometric and Optic Characterization of a Hemispherical Dome Port for Underwater Photogrammetry

open access: yesSensors, 2016
The popularity of automatic photogrammetric techniques has promoted many experiments in underwater scenarios leading to quite impressive visual results, even by non-experts. Despite these achievements, a deep understanding of camera and lens behaviors as

Multi-Focus Image Fusion Using Focal Area Extraction in a Large Quantity of Microscopic Images

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The non-invasive examination of conjunctival goblet cells using a microscope is a novel procedure for the diagnosis of ocular surface diseases. However, it is difficult to generate an all-in-focus image due to the curvature of the eyes and the limited ...

Compound Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Imaging of Bovine Eye by Using Phase-Inverted Ultrasound Transducer

open access: yesSensors
In general, it is difficult to visualize internal ocular structure and detect a lesion such as a cataract or glaucoma using the current ultrasound brightness-mode (B-mode) imaging.

Contrast transfer characteristics of the light sword optical element designed for presbyopia compensations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2011
The paper discusses the abilities of the light sword optical element (LSOE) for presbyopia compensation. The imaging properties are analyzed by means of the modulation transfer functions and output images of the star resolution test.

Flexible Depth of Field Photography [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2008
The range of scene depths that appear focused in an image is known as the depth of field (DOF). Conventional cameras are limited by a fundamental trade-off between depth of field and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). For a dark scene, the aperture of the lens must be opened up to maintain SNR, which causes the DOF to reduce.

Virtual Microscopy with Extended Depth of Field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, we describe a virtual microscope system, based on JPEG 2000, which utilizes extended depth of field (EDF) imaging. Through a series of observer trials we show that EDF imaging improves both the local image quality of individual fields of ...

Effects of depth of field on eye movement

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Depth of field is an important image feature, which can be used to enhance observers’ perception of stereopsis. To explore how the depth of field influenced observers’ attention in images, a within-subject experiment including two factors, two scenes and
