RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

A Non-Rigid Map Fusion-Based RGB-Depth SLAM Method for Endoscopic Capsule Robots

open access: yes, 2017
In the gastrointestinal (GI) tract endoscopy field, ingestible wireless capsule endoscopy is considered as a minimally invasive novel diagnostic technology to inspect the entire GI tract and to diagnose various diseases and pathologies.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Numerical classification of soils and its application in survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Numerical classification of soils was studied with emphasis on methodology and feasibility in survey. A procedure was designed for construction of classes sufficiently homogeneous in terms of relevant properties and handlable by the surveyor.

Depth Estimation via Affinity Learned with Convolutional Spatial Propagation Network

open access: yes, 2018
Depth estimation from a single image is a fundamental problem in computer vision. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective convolutional spatial propagation network (CSPN) to learn the affinity matrix for depth prediction.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

DEPTH MAP ESTIMATION IN LIGHT FIELDS USING AN STEREO-LIKE TAXONOMY

open access: yesRevista de Investigaciones Universidad del Quindío, 2016
The light field or LF is a function that describes the amount of light traveling in every direction (angular) through every point (spatial) in a scene, this LF can be captured in several ways, using arrays of cameras, or more recently using a single ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Polarization distributed depth map for depth-fused three-dimensional display

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
We propose a polarization distributed depth map (PDDM) which can be used in a depth-fused three-dimensional (DFD) display. PDDM is obtained from a conventional depth map using a polarization switching device and shows different polarization states for each pixel depending on the depth position of corresponding pixel.

Guided Depth Map Super-Resolution Using Recumbent Y Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Low spatial resolution is a well-known problem for depth maps captured by low-cost consumer depth cameras. Depth map super-resolution (SR) can be used to enhance the resolution and improve the quality of depth maps.
