Axiomatic derivation of the principle of maximum entropy and the principle of minimum cross-entropy

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1980
Jaynes's principle of maximum entropy and Kullbacks principle of minimum cross-entropy (minimum directed divergence) are shown to be uniquely correct methods for inductive inference when new information is given in the form of expected values.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Quadratic forms and Clifford algebras on derived stacks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
In this paper we present an approach to quadratic structures in derived algebraic geometry. We define derived n-shifted quadratic complexes, over derived affine stacks and over general derived stacks, and give several examples of those. We define the associated notion of derived Clifford algebra, in all these contexts, and compare it with its classical

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

Local and 2-local derivations of solvable Leibniz algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We show that any local derivation on the solvable Leibniz algebras with model or abelian nilradicals, whose the dimension of complementary space is maximal is a derivation. We show that solvable Leibniz algebras with abelian nilradicals, which have 1-dimension complementary space, admit local derivations which are not derivations.

Useful Orthographic Patterns for the Translation of Scientific Terminology from Romanian into English [PDF]

open access: yesStudii si Cercetari Filologice: Seria Limbi Straine Aplicate, 2019
Specialized texts are notoriously difficult to translate, especially when the translator is a philology graduate with no or little experience with a scientific or technical domain. Scientific jargon is particularly complex and difficult at a first sight.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Derivations of Orthosymplectic Lie Superalgebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
In this paper we describe the derivations of orthosymplectic Lie superalgebras over a superring. In particular, we derive sufficient conditions under which the derivations can be expressed as a semidirect product of inner and outer derivations. We then present some examples for which these conditions hold.

Origin and comprehensive study of Thünen´s model to analyze data from in situ rumen degradability technique Origen y estudio comprensivo del modelo Thünen para analizar datos de la técnica de degradabilidad ruminal in situ.

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Ciencias Pecuarias, 2005
The classical model utilized to analyze data from in situ rumen degradability technique was originally proposed by Thünen to study the harvests responses to different production factors.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...
