Shear Viscosity to Entropy Density Ratio in Six Derivative Gravity

open access: yes, 2009
We calculate shear viscosity to entropy density ratio in presence of four derivative (with coefficient $\alpha'$) and six derivative (with coefficient $\alpha'^2$) terms in bulk action.

Population and species neighbor identity impact trait–trait relationships and plant performance

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We evaluated how populations and species identity influence plant performance and trait outcomes in mixtures, and assessed trait variation among populations of two forb species native to the western United States (Dieteria canescens and Heterotheca villosa) following three interaction treatments (single‐population monoculture, two‐population mixture ...

Distributed-order fractional Cauchy problems on bounded domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In a fractional Cauchy problem, the usual first order time derivative is replaced by a fractional derivative. The fractional derivative models time delays in a diffusion process.

2-Local derivations on the W-algebra W(2,2) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The present paper is devoted to study 2-local derivations on W-algebra $W(2,2)$ which is an infinite-dimensional Lie algebras with some out derivations. We prove that all 2-local derivations on the W-algebra $W(2,2)$ are derivation. We also give a complete classification of the 2-local derivation on the so called thin Lie algebra and prove that it ...

Effects of chronic browsing on life‐history traits of an irruptive large herbivore population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between diet quality, body mass, and size (hind foot length), and female reproduction and sought to identify the mechanism by which high density under severe food limitations is maintained. Our results demonstrated that sika deer introduced to Nakanoshima Island have maintained high densities through high ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

German Youth Language: Word-Formation Types of Suffix Nouns and Their Semantic Relations

open access: yesНаучный диалог, 2020
The article is devoted to the study of word-formation types in modern German youth slang and a description of their systemic paradigmatic relations. The research material was a large group of suffix nouns, presented in the dictionaries of youth slang, as

Exploring the Retinal Binding Cavity of Archaerhodopsin-3 by Replacing the Retinal Chromophore With a Dimethyl Phenylated Derivative

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2021
Rhodopsins act as photoreceptors with their chromophore retinal (vitamin-A aldehyde) and they regulate light-dependent biological functions. Archaerhodopsin-3 (AR3) is an outward proton pump that has been widely utilized as a tool for optogenetics, a ...

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Derivative Dispersion Relations

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss some analytical and numerical aspects related to the replacement of integral dispersion relations by derivative relations and also the practical applicability of the derivative approach in the investigation of high-energy elastic hadron-hadron
