Faecalibacterium Diversity in the Gut Microbiome of Crohn's Disease Patients

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Faecalibacterium has recently garnered attention for its potential health implications. To better understand its role, we developed and assessed real‐time PCR assays for detecting and quantifying various Faecalibacterium species in human stool samples from both healthy individuals and Crohn's disease patients, either in flare or remission. The

Is Deuterium Sequestering by Reactive Carbon Atoms an Important Mechanism to Reduce Deuterium Content in Biological Water?

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, EarlyView.
Deuterium, a heavy isotope of hydrogen, is universal in nature, but it disrupts the mitochondrial ATPase pumps. One mechanism that biological organisms may use to reduce deuterium levels in the mitochondria is to sequester deuterium bound to carbon atoms in a small set of organic molecules that have a unique configuration to support such trapping ...

Effectiveness of Dupilumab and Omalizumab in Bullous Pemphigoid: A Nationwide Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most common autoimmune blistering skin disease worldwide. In the difficult‐to‐treat BP or if standard therapies are contraindicated, the use of biologics may be also considered although there is no strong evidence supporting their use.

The Role of T‐Helper 17 Cells and Regulatory T Cells in Acute Diffuse and Total Alopecia: The Increased Function of Regulatory T Cells May Explain the Favorable Prognosis

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute diffuse and total alopecia (ADTA) is a variant of alopecia areata (AA) that lacks the typical patchy hair loss seen in classical AA and presents with an acute onset of diffuse hair loss. It has a favorable prognosis. Objectives The purpose of this study was to assess the role of T‐helper (Th) 17 cells and regulatory T cells ...

Maternal asthma during pregnancy and risks of allergy and asthma in progeny: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Clinical and preclinical evidence indicate that in utero maternal asthma exposure increases progeny asthma risk. Whether maternal asthma also increases the risks of progeny allergy is unclear. Objectives To synthesise the available evidence on the relationship between in utero exposure to maternal asthma and postnatal asthma ...

Targeting ATF6α Attenuates UVB‐Induced Senescence and Improves Skin Homeostasis by Regulating IL8 Expression

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
UVB exposure can trigger senescence in dermal fibroblasts. We show that silencing ATF6α disrupts the establishment of the UVB‐induced senescent phenotype by preventing the onset of several senescent biomarkers and altering the composition of the SASP, consequently affecting its impact on the skin microenvironment.

Paediatric Hypotrichosis: A Clinical and Algorithmic Approach to Diagnosis

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, Volume 66, Issue 3, Page e109-e119, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Paediatric hypotrichosis is the clinical feature of paucity of hair arising congenitally or in early life with the presentation being that of the child whose hair is growing insufficiently. It is a hallmark finding of a diverse group of genodermatoses and sporadic disorders, presenting as either an isolated symptom or in association with ...
