Implications of holdfast availability and patchiness on juvenile seahorse (Hippocampus reidi) condition and welfare: Simulations in captivity

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 2, Issue 6, Page 552-561, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Seahorses (Genus Hippocampus; Family Syngnathidae) are iconic fish characterised by tails with prehensile capabilities, which develop after the transition from planktonic to benthonic lifestyle. As a result, seahorses remain attached to vegetal structures or other elements most of the time, both in the wild and under rearing conditions. In the

Ru complexes containing N‐methyl‐1,3,5‐triaza‐7‐phosphaadamantane (mPTA) as catalysts for the isomerization of 2‐cyclohexen‐1‐ol

open access: yesApplied Organometallic Chemistry, Volume 37, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
The paper discusses the catalytic activity of [RuCp(H2O‐κO)(mPTA)2](CF3SO3)3 for the isomerization of the cyclic allylic alcohol 2‐cyclohexen‐1‐ol with good conversion and negligible metal losses. The complex [RuCp(H2O‐κO)(mPTA)2](CF3SO3)3·MeOH (4·MeOH) was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic techniques and its crystal structure determined ...

Goodness‐of‐fit tests in proportional hazards models with random effects

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 65, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper deals with testing the functional form of the covariate effects in a Cox proportional hazards model with random effects. We assume that the responses are clustered and incomplete due to right censoring. The estimation of the model under the null (parametric covariate effect) and the alternative (nonparametric effect) is performed ...

Loss of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐receptor 1 and TNF‐receptor 2 partially replicate effects of TNF deficiency on dendritic spines of granule cells in mouse dentate gyrus

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 531, Issue 2, Page 281-293, February 2023., 2023
Hippocampal granule cells of adult mice lacking canonical TNF‐Rs were filled with Alexa568 and immunolabeled for Synaptopodin. Morphometric analysis of their spines revealed that TNF‐R mutants partially replicate changes previously reported for TNF‐deficient mice.

Mission‐centric decision support in cybersecurity via Bayesian Privilege Attack Graph

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 4, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
We propose a mission‐centric approach to assessing the risks of cyber attacks on the organization's mission and provide decision support to network security administrators. Our approach uses a unique stochastic model that connects vulnerability impacts to the mission's security requirements and allows selecting the most resilient configuration of ...

Analyzing the role of resilience and life satisfaction as mediators of the impact of COVID‐19 worries on mental health

open access: yesJournal of Community Psychology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 234-250, January 2023., 2023
Abstract The aim of this study was to test whether resilience and life satisfaction (two traditional protective factors) mediate between COVID‐19 related worries and the development of symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress in adolescents and young adults.

High‐throughput behavioral phenotyping of tiny arthropods: Chemosensory traits in a mesostigmatic hematophagous mite

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 339, Issue 1, Page 46-62, January 1, 2023., 2023
We validated a new high‐throughput system based on nanocomputers connected to cameras automatically tracking movements of single mites. Our results confirm the existence of a volatile pheromone deposited by D. gallinae and attractive to conspecifics.
