Descemet′s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty tissue insertion devices

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic & Vision Research, 2015
This review study provides information regarding the construction, design, and use of six commercially available endothelial allograft insertion devices applied for Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK). We also highlight issues

Presumed herpes simplex virus endotheliitis following ultra-thin Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
A 78.year.old male underwent ultra.thin DSAEK for PBK (OS) and achieved BCVA 6/12 at 9 months. The patient developed allograft rejection 10 months postoperatively and was treated with IV methyl prednisolone, systemic, and topical steroids.

Simultaneous bilensectomy and endothelial keratoplasty for angle-supported phakic intraocular lens-induced corneal decompensation

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
A 40-year-old lady presented with severe endothelial cell loss in both eyes 14 years after angle-supported phakic intraocular lens (AS PIOL) implantation. The left eye had severe corneal edema with bullous keratopathy.

Genetic risk factors in Finnish patients with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To study the genetic risk factors of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) in the Finnish population using hospital‐based and large biobank cohorts. Methods We genotyped a cohort of 107 Finnish patients with FECD for the primary associated genetic risk factor, the TCF4 (CTG)>50 expansion, and studied their clinical phenotype.

Corneal transplantation: Restoring sight to the blind

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Corneal blindness is one of the leading causes of vision loss worldwide. Transplantation of the cornea can restore vision and make blind patients see again. Corneal transplant surgery has undergone major evolution in recent decades with the advent of minimally invasive lamellar surgical approaches such as DMEK and DALK.

Pathological classification of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy into several types and their relationships with CTG18.1 expansion repeats

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 2, Page 182-196, June 2026.
Abstract Late‐onset Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is the most common primary disease of the corneal endothelium and the leading indication for corneal transplantation in Western countries. It is characterized by progressive accumulation, over two to three decades, of extracellular matrix (ECM) components in Descemet's membrane (DM ...

The Impact of Real‐Time Data Analytics on Infection Prevention and Control Practices in Ophthalmology: A Nursing Perspective on Patient Outcomes and Cost‐Effectiveness

open access: yesNursing &Health Sciences, Volume 28, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ophthalmic surgeries pose infection risks. Traditional control methods rely on manual monitoring, creating a need for more precise, data‐driven nursing models. This study evaluated the effectiveness of real‐time data analysis in improving ophthalmic infection prevention and control outcomes.
